Running through the thick forest, the tension was palpable in the air, wrapping around us like a thick blanket. Natasha, Steve, and Peter hurried behind me, their footfalls heavy on the uneven ground.
"Yn, come here right this second!", Natasha's voice rang out, a stern and commanding tone, But I didn't listen, my mind fixated on Wanda, and nothing else.
I could almost hear her voice calling out for help, echoing in my thoughts like a haunting whisper.
Her terrified face remained a fixed image in my mind, fused together with worry and anxiety. As I kept running, my thoughts consumed by Wanda's plea for help, Natasha once again called out to me, her voice filled with pleading. "YN, please, just stop! It's too dangerous to go alone!"
As my lungs burned and I fought to catch my breath, I pushed myself to run even faster. My legs burned and I felt my side screaming in protest. Ignoring the pain, I didn't notice the sharp stitch in my side until I was forced to stop.
I collapsed to the ground, gasping for air. Peter was suddenly beside me, concerned etched on his face.
"Are you okay?," he asked, his eyes wide with worry.
I was still struggling to breathe, unable to respond to his question. Peter carefully lifted me up, my body resting against his chest.Steve and Natasha hurried towards us, their expressions stern. The look on Natasha's face clearly indicated her displeasure.
"Natasha, I'm sorry-" I began to say, my voice faltering under her stern glare.
But Natasha cut me off, her voice loud and tinged with anger."What the hell is wrong with you?" she exclaimed, not letting me finish my apology.
Peter shot me a concerned look, and I couldn't help but smile at him. Despite my irritation with him earlier, there was something about the boy that softened my annoyance.
Natasha's anger continued to flare as she shouted, "Well?!" Steve placed a hand on her shoulder, attempting to soothe her, but she brushed him away, her focus remaining on me.
Her gaze was sharp and intense as she waited for my response. I knew that what I was thinking was wrong, as I had only known Wanda for less than a year. But in the five months that I had been with her, she had come to mean so much to me. The bond we shared was strong, and I found myself feeling a connection and loyalty I couldn’t explain.
Natasha's words cut deep, her voice filled with frustration. "You're such a brat, you know that? Always so selfish." The harshness of her tone struck a chord within me, reminding me of my father's constant criticisms. I struggled to find words, feeling as if the air had been knocked out of me.
Seeing the impact her words had on me, Natasha's expression softened. Her arms dropped to her sides, her eyes now filled with regret. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you," she said softly.
I sighed, my voice weak as I looked up again.
"I'm sorry too. I just...I just want her back. Wanda," I said. My voice trailed off, longing and worry seeping through every word. The weight of her absence felt heavier than ever.
Natasha's hand found its way to my shoulder, her touch soothing yet firm. "I know, sweetie, we all do. But we have to stick together okay?" She said. Her gaze held a mixture of understanding and concern.
As I nodded in silent agreement, a sense of reassurance washed over me. There was something soothing and calming about Natasha's voice that made me feel just a bit better. She kindly squeezed my arm before we all pressed onward together.
We made our way through the thick, lush forest, with a warm, humid air enveloping us, giving off a distinctly tropical jungle-like ambiance.
As we walked, Peter and I fell into step next to each other, stealing glances without even realizing it. I found myself growing feelings for the boy, more and more, whether I wanted to admit it or not.
We reached a ditch, Peter and I exchanged grins as we prepared to make a daring leap.
Steve, ever the responsible one, tried to stop us. But it was too late;we were already in motion, sprinting towards the ditch and then launching ourselves over it, landing safely on the other side.
Natasha followed quickle as she ren after us, her voice tinged with a mix of annoyance and affection, as she let out a sigh. "Why do you two always have to do something silly?" she said, her face showing a cute pout.
We finally reached the formidable mountain.
The mountain was immense, its enormity causing a shiver to run down my spine once again. It was the very mountain from my vision, the sight sending a wave of anxiety through me.The huge size of it was overwhelming, and the steep slopes of the mountain seemed as slippery as they were intimidating. But the most pressing thought on my mind was that Wanda was somewhere up there.
Natasha approached me with a strong sense of reassurance, gently squeezing my arm before turning to the boys, who were preparing the rope for the climb.
Swallowing down the lump in my throat, Natasha gave me a warm smile, trying to assuage my fears. "Don't worry, Yn," she said. "We're going to get you up there safely."
I looked at her, my eyes wide with fear, my body trembling with each passing minute. "How can you be sure?" I managed to stutter, my voice quivering. "What if something goes wrong?"
Natasha's gaze softened as she took in my frightened expression. "Hush, it'll be alright," she reassured me, her voice barely above a whisper. She took my hands in hers, her touch gentle yet firm. "Relax, take a deep breath."
I took a shaky breath, trying to calm my nerves. Her voice is soothing and her eyes kind. "Just look at me," she instructed. I met her gaze, finding comfort in her steady, reassuring expression.
As she calmed me down by showing how to breath, she spoke again,
"We'll get you up there safely and you'll be with Wanda before you know," she said. I nodded, feeling more at ease knowing I were about to be reunited with her.Looking up at the mountain, I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized the blue magical glow was coming from the source. That sharp pain in my chest returned once again, confirming my previous suspicions.
My body trembled with fear as I suddenly realized that this might all be a trap. "Guys, this goes too easy," I managed to say, my voice trembling. The realization hit me hard as I wondered why we had never considered the possibility that the vision could be a trap set by aurora.
The others looked at me intently, sensing my fear and tension. I could see them silently pleading with me to speak up and share what was on my mind.
Finally, I mustered up the courage to speak."What if the vision wasn't Wanda asking for help? What if it was a trap?" I spoke slowly, each word coming out shaky and hesitant.
The realization that we had not considered this possibility earlier echoed in the silence that followed.
Before they could answer me, I heard a strange voice behind me . "Because its not," a woman said as she walked towards us.
