I wasn't sure how long I had been unconscious, but the last thing I remembered was a violent surge of magic that had engulfed me. As I began to regain consciousness, I found myself lying on my back, my head beating slowly.
The impact had caused a high-pitched ringing in my ears, making me feel disconnected from my surroundings. Slowly, I opened my eyes, wincing as the pain surged through my head. The blow I'd sustained wasn't child's play. The throbbing pain and dizziness made it hard to think clearly. My heart beated slowly, and I could barely breathe normally.
Suddenly, I gasped for air and managed to fully open my eyes. I panted heavily on the ground, still trying to regain my bearings. The world spun around me, and it was difficult to focus. Slowly, I began to come to my senses and stood up, steadying myself as I fought to make the world stop spinning.
As my vision returned fully again, I stood still for a moment. The morning was breaking through. Birds chirped, and the sun slowly rose over the grass, casting a warm glow on the surroundings.
I took a moment to look around, and the memories of what had happened earlier flooded back into my mind. "Oh no, Wanda!" I exclaimed, my voice filled with panic and fear as I glanced around the open space."Wanda, where are you?!" I called out, desperately hoping for a response. However, there was only silence. As I looked around me, I realized that the others had vanished as well.
Feeling a wave of disappointment wash over me, I turned and walked back towards the lake. Suddenly, I froze in my tracks, struck by the sight before me.
I found Wanda, her body half submerged in the water and half on the grass, unmoving and unresponsive. Fear gripped me as I rushed over to Wanda, disregarding every other thought. I sprinted towards her as quickly as I could, my heart thumping in my chest. I knelt beside her, frantically checking her for any signs of life.
Her eyes were shut, and her body laid motionless, causing my fear to escalate further. "Wanda, please wake up," I pleaded, my voice trembling with terror. I shook her gently, trying to awake her from her unconscious state. But she remained unresponsive, her features still and her body motionless.
The fear inside me grew even stronger, and I felt desperation creeping in. I slowly Laid Wanda on her back. Sitting beside her, my gaze locked onto her face, a desperate plea escaping my lips. "Wanda," I took a shaky breath. My heart still bouncing crazy. "Don't you dare do this to me." My voice was filled with firm but worry.
One of my hands was resting protectively on her body, the other hand moved to my forehead, wiping away both dirt and sweat. When I felt a subtle movement beneath my palm, my hope flared. I looked down at Wanda, watching her eyes slowly open.
Her emerald green irises meeting mine again, a wave of relief washed over me.
With a shaky exhalation, I muttered under my breath, "Damn, Wanda..." Her gaze held mine, filled with an affectionate familiarity. Her voice a tender whisper, she said, "Hey sweetheart." Her hand reached out and found mine, intertwining our fingers in a gentle grip.I couldn't help but grin as I assisted her to sit up, and wrapped my arms around her again. "I genuinely thought I had lost you again," I playfully quipped, the truth of my words evident in my voice.
Wanda responded with a soft smile, her chin naturally finding its place resting on the top of my head, as if it belonged there. "That would have been a shame, wouldn't it?" she teased back, gently keeping the mood lighthearted between us.
But my smile soon faded."Where's Aurora?," I questioned, the fear I had momentarily forgotten was slowly returning to me. Wanda noticed my tension and loosened her grip on me, looking at my worried expression. "Don't worry," Wanda assured me, her voice calm but firm. "We'll get her later, alright?"
I shook my head firmly, my determination evident. As long as Aurora would be freely walking around, Wanda still wouldn't be safe. "No, we need to get her," I insisted, my voice cracking as tears welled up in my eyes. "We-" Wanda observed my distress and her expression softened with concern, her gaze filled with warmth and affection. "Come here, yn,"Wanda pulled me into her embrace, encircling me in a steadfast hug. As I rested my head against her chest again, she softly rubbed soothing circles on my back.
We remained in this comforting position as she continued speaking, her voice steady and reassuring." It's all going to be okay, I promise you," Wanda murmured, her hand gently stroking my hair.
I letted all the frustration and despair of the past day pour out. I clung tightly to Wanda, overwhelmed with emotion due to lack of sleep over the last few weeks. My body finally started to relax. She was the only one who I allowed to see me in such a vulnerable state, and the only one who somehow knew how to soothe my anxious heart.
We stood up, and at that moment, the others hurried towards us. A warm smile graced my lips as I saw that they were all unharmed, especially Peter."Hey guys, just chilling here," I quipped playfully. Natasha shook her head, a mix of amusement and feigned disapproval on her face. "You never fail to be a little brat, do you?" she remarked, laughter lacing her voice. Her gaze then fixed on Wanda, her expression softening with concern.
We warmly embraced one another, Wanda being the focus of our the center. Peter moved toward me; he wrapped his arms around me. My body tensed momentarily before a smile tugged at the corners of my lips. Seeing his nervousness over such a humble gesture was endearing.
Steve looked at Wanda, his voice filled with relief. "It's wonderful to have you back, Wanda." Natasha and Wanda exchanged glances, as if communicating silently. I couldn't help but sense a hidden connection between them; something about the way they looked at each other made me believe there was more going on in their friendship.
Steve's voice interrupted the moment, his tone playful. "Alright, love birds, shall we get going?" As he spoke, Wanda blushed slightly, and I couldn't help but notice the rosy tint on her cheeks. She quickly turned her gaze, but not before I caught a glimpse of her flustered expression.Wanda shot a glance my way, her eyes daring me to make a comment about the situation. I giggled. Finding it adorable.
We continued on our path, going down the mountain together. I held Wanda's hand tightly, refusing to let go, as if I feared losing her again if I did. I didn't care about the fact it looked stupid. I just needed to feel her presence.
Suddenly pausing at the sound of a suspicious noise, Wanda let go of my hand, her magic shimmering, as she focused her gaze in the direction of the disturbance.
Our surprise was immediate as we spotted the other Avengers standing at the end of the path. My eyes widened with intrigue, and before I had a chance to think, I trailed behind Wanda, who was quickening her pace to catch up to them. She held my hand firmly, ensuring I wouldn't get lost as I navigated through the group of Avengers.
Finally, at the end of the group, stood the familiar witch who I had hated before we even met. We stood before Aurora, the witch bound tight with the best equipment available. She writhed in anger as she laid eyes on us.
I shifted my gaze towards Wanda, uncertain of what her response would be. Given the pain Aurora had inflicted, seeking revenge would have been entirely justified. Yet, Wanda surprised me with her actions, or rather, her Good personality.
Instead of seeking revenge, she smiled with pride as she took in the sight of the witch that was now being captured, looking vulnerable. At that moment, my admiration for Wanda deepened.
It was at that moment I fell even more in love with my witch. They then took Aurora with them again, brining her to another place where she would never be able to hurt anyone ever again.
We continued our trek through the dense forest, our surroundings gave me the feeling of the Amazon rainforest.
Looking at Wanda, I stared to think back. My mind wandering to my first time at the compound and my conversation there with Steve. He had told me Wanda felt the same way about me. And even though I thought it was never possible, Wanda had become the maternal figure I had never imagined I would have in my life.
Her gentle, protective nature mirrored the compassion and warmth I had longed for but never experienced until I met her.
She was the mother I never knew I needed
