CARDEN
"But under one condition. You have to swear not to touch me." she said holding her arms crossed against her chest.
But why....just a minute ago, we were holding hands. We had a great time, you even smiled a lot. But I have to swear not to touch you? Altough we're married? My head shot down, a gloomish aura around me. I'm not saying that I'll pounce on her as soon as we sleep on the same bed. But still, we're humans. You should give me some hope. I should at least be able to hold your hand. If you have trouble sleeping, I would even be giving yo my arm as a pillow. You need to let me pat your head too. But if you make me swear not to touch you we're no different from strangers, even though we're married.
"Let's just sleep in our own rooms." I'd rather live in solitude forever than promise to do that.
"Keep rushing to my bedroom every morning." I spoke before turning around.
EVELYN
Huh. As soon as I asked him not to touch me, he said we should sleep separately? Was he just planning to touch me from the start?! Does that mean holding hands and pleasing me was all part of his schemes?!
"Why." he said shooting me a look as I stared him up and down. "Nothing. I think it's hilarious. You're just like any other guy, you know." I smirked.
"What?" he said looking dumb-founded.
"HUH?! THERE YOU GO AGAIN! I told you not to look at me like that." I said pointing a finger right at his gaze.
"I didn't. This is just what my face looks like." he said hinting at his face. I kissed my teeth turning away from his eyes feeling extremely annoyed and wronged.
"Hey..."
"Don't come running to my bedroom ever again. Don't concern yourself with my health." he said turning away as I turned towards him. "No. That's a completely separate matter. Plus, it's all for your good."
"I get to decide what's good for me." he said not paying attention to me.
"You should still let me help you with what you can do yourself. This is what married couples do." I confronted. "Looking out for each other is natural in a marital relationship. I'm not being nosy for nothing, it's for a good purpose. If that's unfair, feel free to boss me around in regards to my health." He suddenly halted in his steps, moving back at me, close, too close.
"Right. Thanks for bringing it up."
"A. Marital. Relationship." I paused mid-sentence, my eyes locking onto Carden's face. His lips twisted into a smile, but it was the kind of smile that held no warmth. It was all teeth and tension, a brittle mask stretched across his features. The corners of his mouth were pulled up, but the rest of his face remained unmoved, the spark absent from his eyes.
I could almost hear the grinding of his teeth, the muscles in his jaw clenched tight, betraying the effort it took to maintain this charade.
"There's something I didn't mention because I've been so busy all this time but I think the most important part of marriage is the relationship." he said taking off his coat. "It's most intimate form of it." then his sweat, revealing the button of inside. "This includes, both emotional and physical." he tossed them both on the floor. "They should be intimate in terms of both the body and the heart." then his tie.
"W-what is this." Why is he suddenly undressing in the middle of the flippin house. My eyes widened in surprise, and I felt a blush creep up my cheeks. The warmth spread across my face, painting my skin a soft shade of pink. I could feel the heat radiating from my cheeks, intensifying with each passing second.
