JJ's POV

One week later

We haven't seen or heard from Y/N for a week.

Emily has tried calling and writing to her, but all messages remain unread and calls are immediately forwarded to voicemail.

Her cell phone seems to be turned off.

This makes us both very nervous, especially after Katy sounded so angry that evening.

But maybe Y/N is just ashamed of what she said and is therefore avoiding us.
Maybe she feels like she owes us something or maybe she's just not ready to continue to question their relationship.

The uneasy feeling in my stomach grows with every day that I don't hear from her and I know Emily feels the same.

Emily and I had decided to wait a week before doing anything.

We wanted to give her time and space, not pressure her or force her to talk to us.

That week is over today.
We decided to just knock on the door as soon as Katy left the house for her training.
She's punctual like clockwork.
We both took the day off because we only have paperwork waiting for us anyway and decided that I would wait outside our door until Katy left so we could be sure she was really gone.

There's nothing Y/N needs less than us checking in on her while Katy is there.

I stand in front of our slightly leaning front door and shift my weight from one foot to the other while keeping a close eye on the door at the end of the hall.

I'm nervous.

After a while, the door opens and Katy comes out in her sports outfit.
She locks it twice and then walks down the hall with a springy step and a swinging braid.
When she sees me, a smile lights up her perfectly made-up face.

Even though I almost liked her before, the sight of her now gives me an uneasy feeling.

"Hey Katy." I say as relaxed as possible, and clench my hands in my pocket.

I think about Y/N's words and it makes me angry.
I would like to confront her.
How can she be so relaxed and happy when she treats her girlfriend like that?
But that doesn't help, so I try to stay relaxed.

"Hey JJ. You look outrageously good again.
Have you been waiting here for me?"
Katy asks with a suggestive grin and her gaze rests on my cleavage.

"No, I'm waiting for Emily. She's coming soon." I say, pointing to the door behind me and trying to smile.

"I would never keep you waiting, you know." She whispers and places a hand on my waist.

I stiffen under her touch and take a step backwards until my back touches our door.
Katy also takes a step, but forwards, so that she is now even closer to me.
"Do you know what I thought from the beginning?"
Her hands stroke my waist.
"I think we could really have a lot of fun together."
She whispers and leans forward.

I'm about to say something, push her away, but at that moment the door behind me opens and Emily steps out of our apartment.
She probably heard everything from behind the door because she immediately wraps her arm around me while staring at Katy.

"Sorry, my love. I'm here." She coos, giving me a kiss on the cheek.

I sigh with relief and warmth floods through my body.
