Taylor
The day Paige was last to be seen is perhaps the day she acts in her kindness.
She noticed her sister was off when they're still in school, she wouldn't look her in the eyes or talk to her on the bus. Paige was staring into something she could not see.
She was constantly checking on her phone while cooking with Taylor, her mind was like a pool of bath bubbles that could pop at any time. Her mind couldn't concentrate on anything. Even their parents noticed. She wasn't her.
At the time when she finished dinner, Paige still stayed downstairs with Taylor while she's washing the dishes. Her thumb kept on plucking her nail until her fingertips turned purple.
She stayed like that for minutes, but eventually stopped.
For the rest of the night, her sister offered to do anything Taylor would need. She did homeworks, chores, and started to organize everything.
"Why are you doing this," she asked.
Paige kept quiet in response. And reply when Taylor didn't think she would. "Just feeling like."
She never got the answer. Her sister kept on nursing everything, her flower pots with decorations hanging on the wall. She takes out the trophy they won together for ages, cleaning the dust off before looking at it like she got words wanting to say. Paige kept on doing things Taylor found unnecessary with her unusual silence.
Her sister would stay up all night rolling on their bed, playing with her phone and talking to Taylor, talking about things she never thought anyone would care, about all the things she had never been asked before. Paige asked until they fell asleep, being covered by the darkness of the night.
Her sister never make it that night. She sneaked out and found dead in the woods near their house. Her name was mourned for days and nights. Taylor was first saw her parents ever so devastated since her grandfather's death.
Paige's funeral held on a rainy day, the rain was so heavily that her vision blurred under the umbrella. The ground was hit hard by the rain and thunders echoing up in the sky make her thought God was mad instead of pity her life.
There are kids around the school with teachers she had never knew before, all surrounded when people bury her sister. Some were crying, some didn't say a word. Taylor could even catch glimpses of a smile spreading through the crowd. She knew Paige was killed, so did everyone, But she knew they are also around. The muderer of her sister attended her very own funeral.
Paige died at the age of fifteen with her mystery having yet to be solved. Her story was soon to be forgotten, with different versions of her life she thought she could never discover. Taylor was thought to be forgiven despide everything she did. But the temptation to discover, if not what she did, what happened made her become more cynical, with doubt she had on everything.
