Taylor
Taylor knows he's always being honest, at least with her. She trusted everything he could have said. And even if he's hiding something, she thought she could always forgive him.
It was different this time. Her doubt she held on everything bursted when listen to Mia and Ben about all those things. She thinks about his words often, questioning herself and everyone else. But her answer was nowhere to be seen.
"You still don't believe me?" Ben asked her in their class. While Taylor's trying to concentrate on her worksheet.
"I do not doubt you," she said. "I doubt the kid who appears out of nowhere and acts kindly after he tried to separate me and my friend."
"I've been here since first semester. You're too careless."
"I don't care, I trust in myself and my decision. Whatever I do shouldn't matter to you." She didn't bother looking at him, while Ben leaned closer, peeking sometimes to check if their teacher's looking.
"I swear you should come check on him. Have you ever asked yourself how come he never talks about himself?"
"He did," she said. "You didn't know him well enough. And if you're got so much time talking around." She pointed her pen to the blackboard. "You should take your time to study."
Ben's gaze followed her pen annoyingly, then he turned back without wanting to study.
"But still," he said. "You can't know him more than I do."
She fed up with his words, half curious but half irritated. Now that his change in attitude made her become serious about what might come.
"You gonna check his notebook," Ben continued.
"What notebook?"
"The one he's holding around. Didn't he have one?"
"Yeah, he did," she thought about the diary, or what seemed like a diary, he had before she started to write one.
"Exactly, you'll find what you need to find there."
"How do you know?"
"Somebody told me. I thought they're trustable."
Taylor breathed hard through her nose, her mind was going crazy about all the canard she had heard in a past few days. She can already pictured that path she'd ended up if ever to listen.
"So you believed some random person you didn't even know the name of?"
"They're not somebody, they named Somebody with a capital S."
He looks around while taking out his phone, surfing and pressing buttons. Watching him make her impatient and curious at the same time, started to wonder what she had missed.
Ben showed her his phone screen, displayed a chat message of him with another person. She takes the phone from his hand and feels the text format was familiar. Taylor pressed to the account information, reading word by word and soon knew who they were.
"You shouldn't trust her. Why can't you see anything?" she said.
"You know this person?"
Last four digits were 1021, along with an auto-set avatar.
Taylor saw her in the hallway, in their French class, chatting along with her friends. Sometimes when their eyes met, the feeling of happiness and delightful was long gone, replaced by the sorry look, if not pity, Mia gave to her.
