Night, Occult Research Club Room
Rias Gremory and her peerage were gathered in the club room, discussing the recent events. The atmosphere was tense, their faces reflecting the gravity of the situation.
"We can't ignore this anymore," Rias said, her voice firm. "Whoever is behind these attacks is skilled and dangerous. We need to find out who they are and what their intentions are."
Akeno nodded. "Koneko's suspicions about Toji Fushiguro seem more justified now. His presence coincides with these incidents."
Kiba frowned. "But we have no concrete evidence linking him to the killings. We need to be cautious."
Koneko, sitting quietly, finally spoke up. "I'll keep an eye on him. If there's something he's hiding, I'll find out."
Rias agreed. "Be careful, Koneko. We can't afford to lose anyone."
Next Day, Kuoh Academy
The school day began with the usual hustle and bustle. Toji Fushiguro walked through the halls, his bruises still visible but healing. He could feel eyes on him, whispers following his every step. He ignored them, focusing on his own thoughts.
During lunch break, Toji sat alone in the courtyard, eating his meal. He noticed Akeno and Koneko watching him from a distance. Akeno's gaze was curious, but Koneko's was sharp and suspicious. Toji didn't acknowledge them, continuing his meal in silence.
Afternoon Classes
As the afternoon classes commenced, Toji found himself in a history lesson, listening half-heartedly to the teacher. His mind drifted to the previous night's fight. The encounter with Dohnaseek had confirmed the presence of powerful supernatural beings in this town. He needed to stay sharp and figure out his next move.
After School, Kuoh Academy
The final bell rang, and students began to leave. Toji packed his bag, preparing to head out. As he walked through the corridor, he noticed Koneko following him at a distance. She wasn't trying to hide her presence, and Toji knew she was watching him closely.
Ignoring her for now, Toji exited the school and made his way toward the park where he had fought Dohnaseek. He needed to gather his thoughts and plan his next steps without the prying eyes of the devils.
Evening, Kuoh Town Park
The park was quiet, the evening light casting long shadows. Toji found a secluded bench and sat down, reflecting on the recent events. He knew that the devils were onto him, but he needed to maintain his cover.
As he sat in thought, he heard a rustle behind him. Instantly alert, he turned to see Koneko emerging from the shadows. She approached him, her expression unreadable.
"Why are you following me?" Toji asked, his voice calm but firm.
Koneko's eyes narrowed. "You smell like blood. Fresh blood. It's not just from fights with humans, is it?"
Toji remained silent, his eyes meeting hers without flinching.
Koneko continued, "We found someone dead last night. The wounds were... brutal. Clean and precise, like a professional."
Toji's expression didn't change. "What do you want from me?"
"I want the truth," Koneko said bluntly. "Are you involved in these killings?"
Toji leaned back, considering his words carefully. "I have my own reasons for being here. But I'm not your enemy. Not unless you make me one."
Koneko's eyes flickered with uncertainty. "If you're not our enemy, then prove it. Help us find out who is behind these attacks."
Toji stood up, his gaze intense. "I don't take orders. But if our goals align, maybe we can work together."
Koneko studied him for a moment before nodding slightly. "I'll tell Rias. But remember, we're watching you."
Toji nodded, a small smirk forming on his lips. "I'm counting on it."
As Koneko turned and walked away, Toji felt a strange sense of anticipation. The devils were formidable, but so was he. The game had begun, and Toji was ready to play.
