November 3rd was a school day, sadly enough for Adhara Lyra Black, who just wanted to celebrate her birthday without dealing with classes.

"Look what I've got!" Alecto exclaims as she holds up a cinnamon roll. They were sitting at the Slytherin table for breakfast.

"They're not serving cinnamon rolls today." Adhara smiles as she takes her favorite baked treat from Alecto.

"I threatened a house elf." The red headed girl shrugs. Adhara just rolls her eyes and digs in, but Regulus glares at Alecto.

"Happy birthday, sweetie." Dorcas kisses Adhara's cheek as she walks by her to sit by Pandora. Adhara grins.

"Thanks Cas." She says as she begins to eat her cinnamon roll. Barty comes up to her sleepily and presses a kiss to the side of her head before taking a seat and laying his head down on the table.

Adhara's mood was almost instantly ruined when James Potter stood up on the table, and began yelling for the whole of the great hall to sing to Sirius.

She sat quietly, glaring at her twin, who was standing on the table and bowing to everyone who was singing.

"Self centered prick." Regulus mumbles as he grabs his sisters arm, and then drags her out of the great hall.

"It's not that big a deal, he's done something over extravagant every year since we got here." Adhara rolls her eyes. Regulus scoffs.

"I don't care. He's always taken the spotlight from us, no matter where we are." Regulus shakes his head.

Adhara sighs. This was much more than Regulus defending her, it was Regulus' jealousy of Sirius catching up to him, and he was finally snapping.

Regulus and Adhara had always been second best compared to Sirius. Adhara was a girl, she didn't matter in a world where everyone wanted a son, and Regulus was the second born son, he was the spare.

"Come on, no sad feels on my day. I have class in fifteen, and so do you." She smiles at her little brother reassuringly, and he tries to smile back at her.

Adhara, Amycus, and Alecto raced to DADA. Severus followed behind.

He had been distancing himself from the group, preferring to be on his own. Adhara had even seen him hanging around Mulciber and his friends.

"He's been acting strange." Adhara comments. She feels Alecto tense beside her, but Amycus waves her off.

"Severus and his mudblood are probably fighting. You know how he gets when she's mad at him, all broody and whiny." The words flow easily off of Amycus' lips, but Adhara can tell he's lying by the way his eyes dart around the halls.

"Right." She murmurs as they walk into the DADA classroom. Amycus quickly walks away from her, and Alecto sends her an apologetic look before following after her twin.

So here Adhara was, on her birthday, sitting alone at a table in DADA class because her friends had started acting weird.

"Some friends you have." Her jaw clenched when she hears his voice, and her blood begins to boil.

"Bugger off, Sirius." She snaps as she turns to her twin. He's wearing that signature Sirius Black grin, that ever so cocky facade he puts up.

"Calm down sis, I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. Y'know, since you walked out this morning before I could come and give you my gift." He pulls something out of his pocket. His face still had that cocky grin, but his eyes were full of nerves. He was nervous to give her a gift, afraid that she would just throw it away or something.
