Adhara was waiting for Remus by the black lake just as James had told her to do. She looked at her watch, and sighed when she saw that it was fifteen minutes past seven.

She turned to leave, just to see Remus stalking towards her.

"Took you long eno-" she cuts herself off when she finally sees his face, which was cut up and bleeding. His knuckles were split, and they were covered in blood.

"Remus? What happened?" She was quick to rush over to him and take his face in her hands. His eyes were red and puffy, clearly from crying.

"It's nothing, Ara, me and Sirius-"

"Sirius did this to you?" Her entire body flooded with anger, she felt like tearing her twin brother apart, it was like the day he injured Regulus.

"It's alright, I'm alright. We just had an argument." He places his hands on top of hers, stroking the tops of her hands with his thumbs.

There it was, again. That feeling when she was touching him or when she was worried for him, and it made his heart flutter in his chest.

"You don't look alright." She whispered. He just grinned down at her lazily, his brown eyes shining with something Adhara couldn't quite decipher.

"I guess I owe you a secret, huh?" He slides her hands away from his face and intertwines their fingers. He then pulls her with him to walk around the lake.

"I guess you do." She smiles as she watches him. He had several cuts on his face, a few were still dripping blood, along with his split lip and nose.

"Here." Adhara pulled her wand out and muttered a few spells. The blood cleared from his face, and his split lip healed, along with a few of the cuts. Only one remained.

"Hmm, he must have nicked you with his family ring." She mutters. He furrows his brows as he runs his long fingers over the cut on his jaw.

"What's that got to do with anything?" He questions. She holds up her right hand, which had her Black family ring sitting on the ring finger.

"The Black family rings are spelled, any harm done with them is not easily reversed by magic or potions. It's dark magic. Though, I do wonder why Sirius is still wearing his ring, he despises our family." She muses, Remus just shrugs.

"Why does Sirius do anything?" His voice is bitter, and angry. She squeezes his hand gently.

"When I tell you my secret, I want to know one of yours. Something hardly anyone else knows." All talk of Sirius is pushed aside as Remus changes the subject. Adhara grins.

"Like what?" She asks, and he shrugs.

"Anything."

She nods, and they both fall quiet. She was waiting for him to speak, to tell her his deepest, darkest secret. The one she had been trying so hard to find out.

"It happened when I was four. My father had been openly insulting their kind, and the leader, Fenrir Greyback, was angry. I was outside at night on the full moon, my father was near, but I had ventured away from him. I-I remember seeing these eyes, these wicked and twisted eyes. He attacked with the intention of killing me, but my father fought him off. It was too late though I had already been-"

"Bitten." She whispers for him, the color leaving her face.

Remus Lupin was a werewolf. Why hadn't she seen the signs, she had learned about werewolves in her third year. She began to put the pieces together. The extensive absences every month, the mood swings, the heat, the scars.

Remus Lupin was a werewolf.

"I might as well have been dead in my father's eyes. He hated my kind, he devoted his life to hunting them. So he left, with just a note to my mother. He didn't even address me in it, he called me a thing. My mother, she was a muggle. She didn't know how to deal with a werewolf wizard alone, so she too left. I was given to the boys home." He lets out a shaky sigh, and she could tell how bad rehashing the past hurt him.
