If she thought yesterday dragged by, today was even worse. Calypso knew she'd spent way too much time looking at her watch. And she could perfectly understand the phrase, A watched pot never boils. She was dying to see Cade.
She'd also spent most of the day thinking about becoming a werewolf as well. She really couldn't see any downside to it, but she sort of wanted to ask Dane about it, and see what he thought of it. She had no idea how long he'd been a werewolf. She ended up calling him on her break.
"I still cannot believe Lexi told you all of that. Cade wasn't very happy with her either. He didn't want you overwhelmed with it," Dane told her.
"I know. We talked about it some last night. But I want to know how long you've been a werewolf and how you feel about it," Calypso said.
"Five years now. I was so shocked when Lexi told me. I didn't believe her. I thought she was crazy at first until I realized she really meant it. But I was already half in love with her at that point that she could have probably told me she was a vampire who needed to suck me dry every night and I would have agreed to it. I was completely mesmerized by her. Becoming a werewolf for her was a no-brainer. I don't regret it for one moment," Dane said.
"Is it weird having a voice in your head all the time?" Calypso asked curiously.
"At first, yes, it was weird, but I've gotten used to it, and now I enjoy it. It would be kind of weird if Blaze wasn't there," Dane said with a chuckle.
"Blaze.. is that your wolf's name?" She hadn't even thought about that aspect of it.
"Yeah, it is." Calypso could hear the smile in his voice. "You're seriously considering it?"
"Yeah. Was it bad? The change?"
"No. I think I expected it to be worse than it was, but it wasn't at all. And I slept so well after. And then I woke up, and Lexi was there, and holy shit. The bond between us was so much more real then. And I won't say anymore because you're my sister," he muttered.
"Yeah, I'd rather not hear anything else," Calypso agreed.
"It was worth it just for that, Calypso. So worth it," Dane said softly.
Which made her all the more convinced that becoming a werewolf was probably the right decision. She wondered how her parents would feel about it, but it did help that her brother was already one. And she was mated to one.
The afternoon passed even slower than the morning, with Calypso's mind elsewhere and definitely not on what she was doing. She so needed out of there, and to see Cade.
Finally, the day was over, and Calypso practically ran out the door and hurried over to her car. She climbed inside and put the keys in the ignition, then glanced at her phone.
See you soon, beautiful.
Her heart warmed at the message he'd sent probably a half hour ago. She started the car and headed towards home. She wasn't sure if he'd be there or not, but if he wasn't, she'd shower and call him. But a truck was parked in her driveway and she smiled happily as she put the car into park and headed inside.
She'd barely closed the door behind her before he was there, his hands on her face and his lips on hers, devouring her in a kiss that told her just how much he'd missed her. She kissed him back just as greedily, her hands grabbing his arms.
"I missed you so much," he said between kisses.
She didn't bother to respond as he couldn't seem to let her go. But finally he stopped, and looked down at her. "Come here." He led her over to the couch, and sat down, then pulled her down in his lap, closing his arms around her and holding her up against him, his face pressed right up against her.
