"She's in the rain"
She's in the rain: tears falling from a heaven
neither of us will admit
that we believe in.
She's in the rain: tears
falling from the night sky
that neither of us have ever seen clearly.
She's in the rain: the droplets that nourish us
until we become overwhelmed and
drown in our own minds.
She's in the rain: a million thoughts
plummeting in excitement
until they are silenced
by a split second splat
on the already wet pavement.
She's in the rain: standing
still under an umbrella,
hearing the loud roar of the storm that
distracts her from the
silence that fills her head.
She's in the rain: waiting
for the time to pass by and leave us,
standing alone outside
in a shallow reflective puddle.
She's in the rain and I am stuck inside.
