The morning sun streamed through the window, casting streaks of golden light across the room. I slowly roused from my sleep, stretching and groaning as I rose from the bed. My limbs felt heavy and tired, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of grogginess.
As I shuffled to the bathroom, I paused mid motion. It was quiet... Too quiet.
Frowning, I made my way through the Shack, checking each room one by one. The living room was empty, the den was silent, and even the kitchen was deserted.
Where was everyone? As I glanced out the window, I was surprised to see Stan and Soos outside, loading up the RV.
Stan's voice carried through the open window, cracking some joke about being a 'silver fox', and Soos's hearty laughter echoing in response. I watched as Soos tossed a can of bug spray into the RV.Leaving the Shack, I approached Stan and Soos, puzzlement etched on my face. Dipper and Mabel stood off to the side.
"What are you guys doing?"
Stan looked up from his task and gave me a cocky grin. "What does it look like, sleepyhead?"
"Dude! It's the ultimate Oregon road trip adventure!", Soos exclaimed."More like a revenge trip. Every year my tourist trap competitors prank the Mystery Shack. Last year those hooligans duct-taped Soos to the ceiling.", Stan explained.
"That was a fun 78 hours.", Soos reminisced, not seeming to mind."Well, no more!", Stan declared, pulling out a map of Oregon's tourist traps and handing it to Dipper. "This year we're visiting every tourist trap along the Redwood Highway, and I'm gonna prank back every single one."
I raised an eyebrow, looking at the map. "Is any of this... legal?"
Stan chuckled. "Define 'legal'."
"You know what, forget I asked."Grenda and Candy arrived, excitement written all over their faces. "Bow wow! Time to let the road dogs bark!", Grenda cheered.
"That is us. We are the road dogs.", Candy confirmed."Thanks for letting me bring Candy and Grenda along for our road trip, Grunkle Stan.", Mabel said, bouncing with excitement.
"The more the merrier. Just sign these non-disclosure agreements. None of your parents are lawyers, right?", Stan asked, leading Candy and Grenda into the RV.Grenda and Candy eagerly signed the documents, not even bothering to read through them. Stan flashed a grin before turning to me.
"And what about you? You comin'?"I chuckled, shaking my head. "I think I'll sit this one out. I'd rather not be an accomplice to any law-breaking activity."
Stan pouted, feigning disappointment. "Aw, C'mon. Live a little. Besides, you'd be a nice looker to have around if we encounter any handsome sheriffs."
Mabel snickered at that.I rolled my eyes, suppressing a smile. "I think Soos is plenty enough eye candy for the whole group."
Soos perked up at that. "Aw, shucks. Thanks, Y/N.""I'm going back inside, I don't want to be around when the authorities start showing up.", I joked.
Stan chuckled, waving me off. "Suit yourself. We'll be back in a week. Try not to miss us too much."Watching as the RV pulled out of the driveway and disappeared down the dusty road, I shook my head with a smile. Only Stan Pines would turn a prank war into a family road trip.
As the sound of the RV faded in the distance, I turned and headed back into the Shack. Now, I'd be on my own for a week. No one around to keep me company except for...
I paused as the realization dawned on me. I'd be alone with Ford for the next seven days.A flutter of nervous anticipation filled my stomach. For a moment, I considered making an excuse to avoid him, but then I shook my head, pushing those thoughts away.
