Cassie.
I jolted awake to ghostly whispers in my ears. My heart raced when a pair of haunting eyes locked onto mine, mere inches away from my face. The intimacy of that moment sent a chill down my spine, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was not alone in the room.
My breath caught in my throat as I stared into the eyes of the clone. She reflected every feature I knew by heart—my high cheekbones, the curve of my lips..
"Uh uh uh. Not now, girl." I saw a clip like thing attached to my fingers.
I tried to recall memories of last night.
I remember opening the door, being scared and being injected with something.
Injected.
"What are you?" I finally managed to ask, my voice trembling.
Her smirk widened, an unsettling glimmer in her gaze. "I'm everything you wish you could be—and everything you fear."
"What do you want from me?" I cried helplessly.
"I don't want anything from you. We'll take it when it's time." Her smile grew wider,
"And when that time comes, you'll be ready. Ready to dance with us."
None of her words made sense.
She was a maniac who looked like me, just paler and weird. I had to get away at any cost.
One second, she was screaming like an animal, raw and desperate, a sound that clawed at my insides and made my heart race with a mix of fear. And now, just like that, she wore a smile that was almost serene, as if whatever monster had taken hold of her had suddenly retreated.
"Oh, why are you crying, kitten?" She asked me. I didn't reply. I'd much rather not speak than speak with this psychotic woman.
I had run away in any case.
"I'll be back, make yourself comfortable." She said and walked off.
I was unhooked. The realization hit me like a bolt of lightning, igniting a surge of adrenaline that coursed through my veins. I glanced around the room, making sure she wasn't around.
I've done it before, the window is my secret door.
I stood, feeling dizzy and disoriented and extended my foot out of the window. Slowly I stepped off, making sure I don't fall over.
I was successful.
The sky had now turned dark grey- almost black, with no clouds or stars whatsoever.
Without thinking for a second I ran towards whichever direction I was facing. The roads were still empty and looked abandoned. Where do I find someone who'll help me?
