T.w: Imagery of violence and hurt ahead.
I stand outside, alone in the darkness.
The air is thick with the acrid smell of ash, a constant reminder of the destruction that lies before me. I enter the familiar ruins. I toss aside a shattered microscope, its delicate glass fragments scattering across the floor, like broken dreams.
A nearby console, its screen cracked and dark, becomes my next target. I grab it by the handle and hurl it across the room, watching as it crashes to the ground. A shelf collapses under the weight of my rage, its contents crashing down.
I recall that day— when I had lost everything, the screams and panic filling my head. The memory still vivid, I relive it almost everyday. My chest is on fire again, each breath a painful rasp that threatens to shatter my ribs, I'm suffocating..
..living the same nightmare all over again.
The air was filled with smoke, choking me, making it hard to draw a breath. I coughed, but the sound was lost in the roar of the fire. I felt like I was being consumed by an inferno, my body burning from the inside out.
I tried to move, but my legs were heavy and uncoordinated. I stumbled, fell, and scrambled to my feet again. Huge flames danced around me.
The fire crackled and spat, sending sparks flying up towards me.
"Dad! Where are you? Dad! I'm stuck here!" I managed to scream hoarsely.
As I coughed, the smoke inside me seemed to expand, I felt my vision begin to blur, and my head started to spin.
I tried to take a step forward, but my legs felt like jelly. I stumbled again, and this time, I fell to the ground. The smoke was everywhere, choking me, making it hard to breathe.
And then I saw him. My father. He was trying to help me, he had managed to pick me..I could barely see anything due to my cloudy vision and my skin burned like hell.
"Justin, open your eyes. Justin! Son."
I tried to, I really did. But it hurt so much.
My body shook violently vwith coughs.
"We're there, son..almost there..you'll be okay." He rasped, weakly.
"Da—" It hurt so much to even talk. I could barely understand anything, but I knew Dad was holding me.
He would get us out safely.
Just then, I heard loud sound. I could feel my body sinking to ground.
"I'm sorry son. Forgive me." I heard his choked sobs.
