I woke up to the sound of two familiar voices shouting at each other. I watched in horror as they continued to argue.
"Seriously Justin! How dare you keep that from me?" Cole's voice was laced with anger.
"I was going to tell you eventually." Justin replied, his voice breaking, from exhaustion, I assume.
What were they talking about?
"When were you planning to tell me?" Cole demanded, his anger growing. "When she's dead?"
I coughed lightly to let them know I was awake. I had no idea when I fell asleep. I remembered Justin comforting me, hugging me, and talking me out of my despair.
"Go to sleep Cassie." Justin murmured running a hand through his messy hair. This was a rare occurrence, as he usually kept his hair perfectly styled.
As I watched, Justin's face contorted with pain and guilt, his eyes flashing with a hurt that seemed to cut deep.
I had never seen Cole like that. He was always goofy and warm.
"Why Justin? You know what she means to me and you still hid it! I considered you my brother!"
Without warning, Cole pushed Justin, making him stumble backwards. Justin's eyes widened in shock as he struggled to regain his balance.
"Oh my god," I whispered, my heart racing with alarm. This was getting out of control.
"What's happening guys?" I asked in concern, walking between both of them to make them stop.
For the first time, Justin seemed out of words.
"You were already going through hard time, I didn't want you to lose yourself again." He spoke lowly to Cole, as though his voice would break if he raised it any higher.
"Who else knows?" Cole asked, his eyes full of pain.
"Jace." Justin advanced towards him, with caution, trying to offer him some comfort.
Who was Jace?
"Stay away!" Cole warned.
Justin's jaw was clenched and he didn't dare to look in his eyes.
