My eyes shot open, and Leslie sat at the edge of our bed. Morning light broke through the cracks of the door and the thatch roof.
"You talk in your sleep you know." She was in the process of putting on her black cloak again.
I rubbed my face as I sleepily sat up, "...What did I say?"
Leslie raised her shoulders and raised her eyebrows. "Don't know, you just mumbled a lot." She pointed at the blanket I held in my hands. "By the way, you are soaked..." her face squirmed.
I quickly raised the blanket to see whether I had an incidental bladder leak during the night, but all seemed to be fine.
"I had a weird dream..." Leslie looked at me, her face between doubt and thought. "I was back in the forest, that clearing where we saw Skye and Ulric..." I shuddered as the image of what they were doing ran through my mind. "I got led to a lake, where I met that dragon."
"Did it say anything?" Leslie asked, now fully intrigued by my story.
"'We meet...' that was all it said, then I sank into the lake and drowned." The image of its deep blue eyes ran through my mind. "It had the brightest of eyes..."
As Leslie was just about to speak, we heard the commotion between Skye and Ulric who slept in the room next to ours.
Skye's voice cracked. "I do not want to sit in that cart of freaks again!."
"Yeah me neither, that Tiber kid is dangerous..." Ulric's voice trembled.
"He nearly killed you yesterday! Look at your arm, think that is normal? That he froze your skin, just like that?" Leslie and I got closer to the wall to eavesdrop. "He just laid his hand on your arm and it froze..." a tense silence fell. "And his eyes..."
Ulric finished Skye's sentence. "Glowing a deep blue, I know..."
A sigh came from Skye, "We should get breakfast, let's just hope this journey is over soon." She clapped her hands, "Chop Chop."
Moments later, when Leslie and I had packed all our things we left our room as well, but while Leslie went to sit with Jack, I was called over by Ulric and Skye who sat at their respective table, both feasting on a plate full of breakfast.
"Hey Tiber, how'd you sleep?" Ulric talked with his mouth full.
"I have slept better..." I said defensively."What did you and your little girlfriend get up to last night?" He winked and snickered.
"Leslie isn't my girlfriend... neither did we do anything..."
A sly smile appeared on Skye's face as she swiftly got up, "I think I will go and have a girl talk with her..." Her smile grew wider before she sped off towards Leslie's and Jack's table.
The innkeeper put down a plate in front of me, I was having breakfast with Ulric now, I was given a couple of eggs, some baked bread, and a mug filled with milk.
Ulric sat closer to me, wrapping his big arm around my shoulders as he pulled me in, "Listen, Leslie, that girl is a witch. You gotta be careful around those, man."
"I believe you were saying the same about me yesterday, besides, I don't see anything weird about her."
Ulric's face pulled as he looked up at Skye who was talking to Leslie in the same kind of manner. "Those kinds of girls have the crazy on the inside."
