It was crazy what could happen in three months. Her stomach was bigger than ever and the Met Gala was just two weeks away. From the throwing up, cleaning, and setting up the nursery, the Wallen household was in a frenzy for Thanksgiving. Morgan had taken time off from writing and work in general to help clean around the house and cook.
It was just minutes away from Lisa arriving before the rest of the Wilson family. Laney had a nice dress on and made sure that the guest room was ready to go for her mom at least. She couldn't wait to have her mom help out with the turkey she had been disgusted to even look at for the last two days.
Morgan had put it in the freezer in the garage but now it was on the counter thawed out. He thought she was kidding when she said she would throw up looking at it but he was quick to realize she wasn't kidding after she got a whiff. Walking towards the doorway after stalking Lisa' location, the pair began to make their final touches around the house and prepare for her arrival.
Laney's mom had finally arrived. Rather than making it a big announcement, Morgan and Laney knew that it would be easier for her to see and just react. As they both stood near the doorway Morgan recorded, a knock came.
"Come in!" she called from inside as she stood with a grin on her face.
Laney's mom walked in and began to speak, "Hi Morgan, it's so nice to see you! Laney look what- ok oh my god. Laney, you're pregnant," she immediately began to cry hugging Laney.
Laney began to tear up as well as her mother spoke, "Well if I knew then I wouldn't have brought your favorite wine," making everyone laugh. Morgan took her bag to the bedroom as Laney led her mom to the couch and offered her a glass of red wine.
"How far along are you?"
"Four months," Laney smiled.
Her mom just smiled in awe. She could tell that she was having flashbacks to when Laney was a little girl gushing over the Jonas Brothers and coming home with bruises from the monkey bars. Morgan walked in as she looked around the house, "It looks pretty clean!".
"Wow thank Morgan," Laney rolled her eyes playfully.
"Thank you, Lisa," Morgan grinned as he began to massage the back of Laney's neck. It often relieved tension for Laney. At times he even had to start picking her stomach up to alleviate some pain for her.
The turkey was on the counter and the three of them turned to look at it. Lisa walked over and immediately began prepping the turkey. And Laney snuck her way to Morgan on the couch and quietly laid on him. Before he could speak she whispered, "When she's in the zone she won't want help".
Morgan shook his head disapprovingly but ran his fingers through her hair as she felt the baby kick. The baby had been kicking a lot. And with the gender being a secret until the birth, Laney was ready to get this baby out. Closing her eyes she just wanted to drift to sleep and Morgan whispered in her ear, "Babe are you sure you're going to be able to do the Met?".
"Yeah," she whined, "I'm just tired and in pain right now".
"I'll drop the Nashville show to come be with you after," he offered in concern.
"Really?" she asked teary-eyed.
He wiped her tears with his thumb and nodded. She shook her head, "But there will be an after and my hotel".
He shrugged, "I'll come to the hotel if you want. We can think about it later. Lisa is cooking up a mean turkey right now. How about you get some rest?".
She just closed her eyes and with a few deep breaths, she was knocked out. Waking up, she immediately ran to the bathroom to throw up. The bathroom light turned on and she felt her mom holding her hair back.
"Sorry Mom," Laney whispered before processing to throw up.
Lisa gave her a soft smile and rubbed her back, "Don't apologize. You're bringing a sweet girl or a sweet boy into this world and they just want to give you a tough time. I just know they will be a sassy one," she chuckled.
As Laney spilled her guts her mom proceeded to tell her about an anti-nausea medicine that helped her and ordered it to the house.
"What time is it?"
"7 AM" Lisa answered,
Laney just nodded before flushing the toilet washing her hands and proceeding to the kitchen. Immediately baking some biscuits, chopping up some fruit putting some whipped cream on top, and making sausage gravy, she was locked in for Thanksgiving Day.
"Penny and Dad will be here in a few hours," Liaa said, "Do you want me to cook instead?".
Laney shook her head, "No but thanks, Mom. You are my guest now".
"Reminds me of when we used to play kitchen when you were little and you would yell at me if I tried to touch your plastic fruit," Lisa reminisced.
"The apple in particular," Laney reminded her.
Laney prepped three plates before serving her mom while she watched TV.
"I'm going to shower, you can go serve Morgan," Lisa smiled before giving her daughter a kiss on the cheek.
Laney went to the bedroom to serve Morgan. Quickly putting the plate down and changing into a shirt of Morgan's so she wouldn't smell like food, she woke him up. His eyes fluttered open before he yawned and Laney placed the food on a bed table. "Rise and shine sleeping beauty," Laney said.
"Yummy," he yawned giving her a kiss.
Taking the fork and cutting into the biscuit and taking a bite, he devoured the biscuits quickly along with the fruit without speaking. "That was good," he said at the end, "Thanks babe". Laney nodded before proceeding to get up but Morgan quickly tugged her by her waistband, making her sit on the bed again.
She looked at him waiting for him to speak, "Shower and get ready. Then I will," he said.
With that Laney hopped in the shower. She took a moment to observe her body in the mirror which prompted a whistle from Morgan making her chuck her shirt at him. This baby was prominent now. She didn't like the way her body looked at all. Tender breasts, and swollen feet, and her face gained some weight as well. When her and Morgan tried to have sex she just broke down in tears so they didn't try, she was embarrassed still. The clothes she ordered when Morgan complained were all she could really wear now without feeling too suffocated.
As she lathered her body in soap and scrubbed herself down, she could feel her anxiety kick in. What would Penny say? What would her dad say? What would Leslie and Ashley think of Penny? Would the turkey come out right? Would his parents be upset? Morgan's parents had invited them to dinner on multiple occasions but denied them due to some work issues which in reality was them working on the nursery and going to parenting classes.
Hearing Morgan's footsteps as she washed off the soap, she wasn't shocked when he pulled the curtain to slap her ass. She couldn't help but feel like that looked gross as well now that she had put on all this weight. Tears began to well in her eyes but she quickly blinked them away, there was no time to cry because she had to get ready for everyone to come.
Drying her body and taking a deep breath, she proceeded to the closet. Choosing a nice sweater and some leggings, doing her makeup, and curling her hair she was ready to host. This was the prettiest she had felt in a while. For once she couldn't see the bump as much and her cabin socks covered her swelling feet. The oversized sweater was just perfect to cover her bump.
Walking out of their room and into the living room, she saw Morgan and her mom talking. She didn't want to interrupt but she was curious as to what they were speaking about. It was tempting to eavesdrop but she didn't have the time. Laney made her entry into the living room and Lisa got up, "Laney look I found a mocktail to make but it's pretty good". Handing her a red sparkling cup, Laney took a sip from the glass.
"The turkey," Laney said.
Lisa walked over to the oven, "It's going to be done in a few hours".
With that, she took a deep breath. And as soon as she sat down, the doorbell rang. She looked at Morgan who was also dressed and walked hand in hand to the door with him.
