Waking up, the clock read 3:15 AM. Gross. She had woke up covered in sweat. Going into bed small bag of clothes, she pulled out an oversized shirt that really just covered up to the end of her asscheeks because of her stomach. Putting it on, she took a sip of the water on her nightstand.

This baby was really putting her to sleep during the day. She felt like a zombie. Probably looked like one too. As Laney laid down and covered herself up to go back to bed, she tossed and turned trying to find a comfortable position. Fuck it.

Her legs danced along the hardwood floors and carried her to the nursery once again. It was bad for her but she just couldn't help it. Looking at the ceiling, she saw what Morgan had drilled earlier and smiled. Maybe it was her hormones but she teared up from the gesture. He remembered.

Tempted to turn on the light, her hand hovered over the light switch. Would he be awake and see the light turn on? She decided against it, she still wasn't ready to speak to him and brought her hand to her side. The plain Phillips lightbulb was now covered with a Moon lantern cover with crescent moon cut outs. From her imagination, she could picture the light illuminating the room with mini crescent moons covering the ceiling.

Looking at the crib, she saw the mobile missing from the crib still. This was her chance. Looking at the box she had left in the corner of the room previously, she took the space-themed mobile and attached it to the top of the crib. It was her nursery Pinterest board coming to life. Specifically, the one that she and Mia had to begin to put together when they found out Laney was pregnant. Any excuse to decorate and those two were at it.

Closing the door gently, she turned the Moonlight on. She caved. It was too tempting for her to resist. Watching the Moon light into a warm glowy light, she squealed at the sight around her. The room was covered in little moons. She smiled to herself and began whispering to the baby aloud, "Might just have to call you Luna".

Luna and Laney had a good ring to it. Luna Wallen. That was the one.

Sitting and soaking in the comforting feeling around her in the nursery while daydreaming about Luna's childhood in the room, she couldn't move. Her body felt attached to the floorboards of the nursery. Every time she would shift to get up, she found her body gravitating for her to go back towards the floor.

She didn't know how long she had been sitting there, but she heard a voice from behind her startling her from thoughts, "I come here when I can't sleep".

Morgan was in sweatpants as he sat down directly next to her and shut the door, "I've never turned the light on either".

The pair sat in silence, in awe of their surroundings. It was funny what a $30 nightlight could make two adults do: fixate. A few minutes had gone by, and they were in a relaxing silence, neither of them had moved or made a comment about anything. It was peaceful, it was like they were in a trance.

Laney decided she had enough but she couldn't help but stay because he was there with her. Even if this was as close as they would get for now, it was one step forward and she was willing to take it. She was the one holding them back and inflicting damage on already open wounds that were ready to heal, but she wasn't ready to verbally confess her forgiveness and her thankfulness towards him. She forgave him. Her subconscious had finally forgiven him.

She smiled a real smile for the first time in weeks at the realization she had before letting her subconscious take over. He was willing to fight for her even when she was on the opposing team. And that was everything.

Deciding that it was time for her to go back to bed, she suppressed her yawn silently as she cracked her back. The crack echoed throughout the room but did not distract Morgan from whatever was going on in his head. Getting up from the ground and wobbling towards the door, she looked back at him to find him staring back at her, "You did a good job Morgan," she softly smiled.
