Chapter 24

Mikael's POV

I watched as her small frame disappeared through the purple slide and I chuckled. I walked to a wall near by and counted out loud to thirty. I could hear her giggling and shuffiling inside the house/game thing whose proper name I don't fucking know.

"Thirty!" I shouted and I heard a shriek. I climbed through the purple slide and chose not to cheat using my werewolf abilities and just wandered around. I saw grey socks inside the helicopter, so I quickly made my way over there and grabbed the ankle of the person expecting it to be Gabriela, but it was Steven.

"Got you." I smirked and he rolled his eyes.

"Whatever." He munbked and got out if the game. Nownit was only Gabriela and I.

"He got me! Don't let him win Belle!" He yelled from outside and I rolled my eyes. Ten minutes passed by and I still haven't found her.

"Gabriela! Come out, come out wherever you are!" I sang and I heard laughter coming from the green slide area.

"Never! Just give up!" She shouted and I heard movement.

So she's been moving around all this time. Well played little mate. But I am way clever than you.

I decided to follow her example and started using my werewolf abilities. I located her crawling the steps to the top with my hearing, smell and heat vision. I took a shortcut through a secret slide and I was right behind her while she recovered her breath. She was sweating a little and panting and her heart was beating very fast. I crawled closer to her and leaned to whisper in her hear.

"You can't hide from me love. I'll always find you." She jumped and squealed. I laughed and went to grab her, but she crawled away and landed on a trap and I landed on top of her and we stared at each other for a long time and I wanted to kiss her.

"Fine. You won." She laughs and I smirk.

"Good. I would like to claim my price now."

"And what would it be? What does the winner want?" She asked biting her lip and I just crashed my lips against hers.

Gabriela's POV

We drove back to Steven's house and Amanda was in the kitchen talking on the phone while Zach and Ben were arguing. The stopped talking when they saw me and they stood up. I turned around and Mikael was giving them both death glares.

"I'm going to talk with them."

"No."

"Mikael. Its important. I have millions of questions that only they can answer. You can wait for me in our room?" I asked him and he scoffed.

"I'll be in the kitchen." He tells me.

"If I hear her scream, you both are dead. And I'm not joking." He threatened and walked away with Steven. I sighed and sat on a couch in front of them.

"Let's start with you Zach." I told him and he gulped.

"I want to apologize for my behavior during Infinity Night. I was an asshole and shouldn't have done that. Before I arrived there, I went toba friend's house and got high. The drugs and the memories of losing my mate turned into a bad combination and fueled my interest for you. When the alarm signaled for us that it was time for the chase, my wild side took over and I started thinking like an animal; like a wolf. All I could think about was in finding you, mark you and mate with you. If it weren't for Mikael, you would probably ended up very hurt and you would've still be hurt today. I'm sorry, but I have good news. I met this girl whose mate died in Afghanistan. Her name is Linda and she's a year younger than me. She lives in a neighborhood near by, that's why I'm here. I saw Steven and he toks me that you were visiting, so I wanted to take that chance and come clean with you."

"Oh. Okay. I....I forgive you. I hope you're happy with her." I give him a smile smile which he returns and nods.

"Well, I gotta go. Linda's waiting for me. It was nice seeing you again." Zach stood up, hugged me and left. I turn my attention to Ben who was staring down at his lap.

"Well? What are you doing here Ben? What do you want to tell me?" I ask him and he takes a deep breath.

"Gabriela...do you remember Monica?"

"Yeah. What about her?"

"She um...she's pregnant." He told me and my eyes widened in surprise.

"Oh....uh....wow! I...I don't know what to say. Congratulations?" I said and he laughed a sad laugh.

"She plans on having an abortion. Her excuse is that his family don't approve of her dating a black guy. They think that I'm a criminal or a killer." His hands were turn into fists and he was lightly shaking.

"Where is she now?" I ask him.

"The Hamptons, visiting her parents. She told me that when she comes back, she'll have the abortion. She also broke up with me."

"Wow." I whispered.

"Yeah. I came here the next day it happened. Our boss wanted me to come here to talk with some clients anyway so... Yeah. Amanda works for one of our clients and we met at the Starbucks next to the building were she works. Once we were dine with business, we talked for a while and that's how I ended knowing that you were visiting. I know that we weren't very close back home, but I just needed to talk to a familiar face."

"Its okay. Don't worry, its not your fault. She's blind for letting you go. One day you will find your mate and all if this will be just a faint bittersweet memory. Okay?" I tell him and he smiles and relaxes.

"Okay. You're right. I can't wait to find my mate. Listen um...I'm leaving in three hours, but...can we still keepnin touch. You're kind of like a shrink and you really helped me Gabriela. Believe it or not, what you just told me made me open my eyes."

"Yeah sure. We can talk through Whatsapp or Hangouts." I agreed and he smiled and hugged me.

"Thank you. You're amazing. Mikael is extremely lucky to have you. I would like for my mate to be like you." He winked and I laughed.

"MINE!" Mikael growled and pushed Ben away from me and hugged me tightly.

"Shh. Yes I'm yours. He was just saying goodbye." I whisper to him.

"I don't care. He doesn't need to touch you to say goodbye." He growls again and buries his head in the crook of my neck.

"Sorry. I'll just go them." Ben said quickly and left without giving me the chance of saying anything. I pulled away from Mikael and he growled and I ran to our room.

"I need to be alone Mikael!" I told him when he entered the room.

"No."

"Yes. I need to think! You're too possessive and jealous! He was just saying goodbye! He won't probably ever see me again!"

"He was touching you! I also read his mind! I pictured you and him having sex and living together!" He yelled.

"But you and I know that it will never happen! I'm your mate! No one else's! Why can't you trust me?!"

"Because you let every fucking guy around to touch you and flirt with you and think things like a whore!" He shouted and I froze. His eyes widened in realization and he tried to hug me, but I stepped back. I ran out of the house and I could hear Mikael yelling my name. I looked back and saw Steven and Amanda holding him. I kept running and made my way towards the forest. Cliché, I know. But when I was little I would always come to the woods every time I had a very bad day at school. Its something about the trees that make me feel relaxed and safe. I ran deep into the woods knowing that my scent will be masked in a few minutes by the falling snow. I spotted a big tree with some dead grass around it and I sat there. I looked at my watch and it read 6:58pm. I sighed and closed my eyes. After a few seconds of fighting, I gave up and let the tear fall freely remembering the mories of those awful days during school that Mikael's cruel words triggered.
