"i've sent orders to leviathan, they are to depart and follow us, sir" matthius said, as i took my seat in the command chair on the reliant's bridge

"this will be the last time, i will be able to stand on this deck for several months, i am not looking forward to it, princess pay attention, this is the end goal, to all the training i will be putting you and your crew on, matthius inform vincent to send word to the heracles they will be joining us, for the inevitable event where i have to trade this ship for that one" i said

"yes sir, i will inform vincent immediately" he said, i nodded

"sir, may i ask what that surprise was my father left you" the princess asked, i grimaced

"i am sure you will find out in due time, your highness, although on that note, i have been made your escort so that you may continue your duties as crown princess, i know for a fact this is his majesties way of forcing me into those ridiculous parties" i said annoyed, she giggled

"to be fair, my father has been pulling his hair out for years over your insistance, on not taking part" she said

"they are a waist of time, it's not like those parties matter" i replied

"what do you mean" she asked

"what is the point of them" i asked

"to make new relationships and potentially find your significant other" she said

"making new relationships happen through business, which is expressly forbidden during the royal balls under his majesties decree, as to your latter point, would your father ever let you pick someone at that ball" i asked, she frowned, no as that wasn't done, her father always found matches for her that best benefitted the empire, never let her choose

"your silence speaks wonders, so with that knowledge what are the parties for" i asked

"i.... i don't know" she said

"they are there so his majesty can show off, why do you think all those military figures are there why do you think the parties are solely guarded by homunculi, his majesty is showing off his power, to his subjects, to his allies, and to his enemies, he wants me there because i am well known as his most skilled officer, able to take on entire squadron of dragon knights with nothing but my djinn, and commanding a ship, that has been monikered invincible" i said

"i see, i never thought of them that way" she said

"most don't, his majesty is very subtle about it, but there is a reason his majesty keeps me close by, i can see these things i can see through peoples ulterior motives, i have repeatedly been asked to become his majesties advisor, for my skills on the field and in politics, of course i have refused, but when he calls asking for my opinion, i give it, there have been times which i have given responses he doesn't like, but that is my job" i said

"it seems i have much to learn" she said, i waved her off

"that's your father's job to teach, mine is to make you a respectable officer of this navy, and trust me, i will, unless you are entirely incompetent which i doubt, i will make you, truly worthy, of all your titles, your highness" i said, as i sat back in my chair and crossed my legs

"there's the captain we all know and love" matthius said, i smirked

"of course" i said

we spent several weeks traveling, before arriving at our destination, as the three ships moored themselves, and training started, to rosalina's surprise captain lichtenwald did take part in the training, matthius had told her he never gave orders he wasn't willing to do himself, this included training

they spent three months in this same area, just training in the most brutally agonizing way possible, but she noticed that her crew were getting noticeably stronger as a result, she understood why her father had chosen him for her, now she just needed to see if they would be compatible, or if he would accept

"sir" matthius said, he looked panicked

"what is it" i asked

"demon beasts in the forest, they will run directly into her highness's expedition" matthius said, my eyes widened

"gather the troops all of them, we move out immediately" i ordered

"yes sir" he said, as he gave me directions, and i charged into the forest, i should of had the forest cleared out again, as it had been a number of years since i used this place as training ground, i drew my sword and switched it for suriel for the enhanced speed, while also summoning ten through twelve, and baskerville for extra support

as i neared i heard a roar, which confused me

"there weren't any dragons, in her highness's expedition" i muttered, but shook my head and continued moving quickly arriving to find a dragon, but only half of the actual expedition, i looked around before realizing the princess was the dragon, i sighed that was for later, for now, i charged in changing suriel out for azrael, i began to cut through the demon beasts

"it's captain lichtenwald" an officer said

"grab your weapons get back in formation, princess, your with me, we will be having words about this once we are back in friendly territory" i said, the dragon simply growled in agreement, as it turned it's attention to the small hoard

"SHIELD WALL" i ordered out as the lot of them began casting the requisite shield spells, i sighed, as i charged at the demon beasts the princess following, as we cut through them, we would defeat them all before reinforcements arrived

"you are hopelessly late, matthius" i said

"my apologies, captain, may i ask where her highness is" matthius i pointed my sword towards the dragon who shifted back to human form

"oh, i see, why were we not informed of this" matthius asked

"i have a hunch, and if it is what i think it is, i am going to wring his majesty's neck" i said, matthius flinched

"please do not kill the king, captain" matthius said

"it's a figure of speech, you blithering idiot" i said annoyed

"yes sir, my apologies sir" he said

"send the reliant's forces, clear out this forest, i want no more surprises, i am returning to my ship, princess your with me" i said
