A few weeks had passed since the episode. That was what they had all began calling Gabriel's suicide attempt. True to his word, Sam had stepped up, trying to help the angel work through his trauma. They had spent many nights sitting up and talking. Gabriel had finally opened up about what he had gone through in hell. He didn't go into details, but he had told Sam about everything. How he had been sold off by Loki. Kidnapped in the middle of the night and taken prisoner. He told him about the beatings and the draining of his grace. More recently, after the two men had spent a few hours drinking, he had told Sam about the rapes and about how the demon liked to touch his wings. Sam intern told him about how the two caged angels spent their time trying to force him to be their mate, and how michael had come up with the plan to sell him, the plan that ultimately led to their escape. They neither one asked questions, not sure if they held off because it would be to much, or because they didn't truly want to know. They continued drinking throughout the night, not making it to bed until the early hours of the morning. These past few weeks had changed their sleeping routine. Instead of trading on and off, they would now climb into the bed together to sleep. They always started off just laying next to each other, not quite touching, but close enough that they could feel the heat of the others body. Every morning though, they would wake up in each other's arms. Gabriel would be snuggled into Sam's chest, and Sam would have his arms locked around his waist, keeping him close. They didn't talk about it, both men enjoying the feeling of waking up safe with the other.
This morning was slightly different. They were still snuggled together, but when Gabriel woke up, he felt something poking him in the back. A deep blush spread across his face when he realized what it was. He tried to quietly move away, not wanting Sam to wake up and this become awkward, but Sam tightened his grip when he felt the angel move. Still asleep, he muttered something Gabriel couldn't understand before letting out a soft snore. Gabriel sighed, he was going to have to wake the moose up to escape his grip. He was about to try again when he heard Sam moan softly. He froze, listening to see if he had woken up. He heard another snore, shaking his head. This could not be more embarrassing.
"Gabe..."
Sam whispered, still asleep. Scratch that, this could be more embarrassing, Gabriel thought. Here he was, wrapped in Sam's arms, and Sam was having, what he figured was an interesting dream, about him. He waited for sam to start snoring again before moving. He managed to get out of his grip and off the bed without waking him, and quietly crept out of the room.
Gabriel made his way to the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of coffee and sitting on the bar stool. He was stating down at the cup, lost in thought about Sam. Something had changed between them. Okay a lot had changed if he was being honest, but things felt different now. He felt like he could talk to sam in a way he couldn't before. He could tell him about the thoughts that plagued his mind, the fears that crept up on him when he was alone, which wasn't often now, but still. There were also his new feelings to consider. He had always cared about Sam, but now it felt different as well. The feelings were stronger. Maybe it had to do with the way Sam was always watching him. Or the fact that when they are talking, he doesn't have to worry about what he may say. He wasn't sure what to do though, he couldn't just come out and tell Sam that he had these feelings when he couldn't even identify them himself.
Gabriel was deep in his thoughts when Dean walked into the kitchen, joining Gabriel at the counter with a cup of his own coffee.
"I don't know what you're thinking about, but what ever it is, it's to early."
Gabriel snapped out of his thoughts, looking over at Dean with a sheepish smile at being caught.
"Sorry. I may have went down a bit of a rabbit hole."
Dean nodded, taking a drink of his coffee.
"Want to talk about it?"
Gabe was a little shocked by the offer. Dean didn't exactly like the angel, and they had never talked about anything important before.
