Where am I?

That was the first thought sam had when his eyes cracked open. It was quickly followed by panicked thought of where Michael and Lucifer were hiding. He tried to sit up to get a better view of the room he was in, but his body would not cooperate with his mind.

He scanned the parameter of the room that he could see, but it didn't make any  sense. It looked like an old motel room, but it couldn't be.

How did he get here?

He tried to sit up again, thus time managing to prop himself up with his elbows,  although the effort of that alone sent jolts of pain through his entire body. He let out a shaky breath as he scanned the room again, his breath catching in his throat as he saw a form laying on the floor appearing unconscious.  He couldn't tell who it was, since the room was so dark, but it didn't matter, his mind was happy to fill in the blanks for him.

It's Lucifer. Or Michael. It has to be one of them, they followed me out, or this is all a trick. How did I get out? How did I get here? Where am I?

Sam's breath came in short quick bursts, he was panicking, trying to figure out what was going on. Small whimpers were escaping him as his body began to shake and tears filled his eyes. He didn't know what was going on, but he knew he wasn't safe.

"Not safe.....not safe.....not safe..."

That was all he could say to himself, his mind flashing over all the memories of the cage. Sam noticed the figure on the floor start to move, groaning as the angel got up off the floor. His eyes were clouded, he was seeing everything through a film of fear. That was why the  short man appeared so much taller, the golden feathers seeming to be black in the shadows of the room, and the whiskey colored eyes seeming to glow red. Sam watched a Lucifer crossed the room to him. His eyes wide with terror, not noticing the tears falling down his face or the soft voice calling his name.

"Sam?"

The voice said softly.

"Sam you are safe now."

Not safe. Never safe. Not safe. Never safe.

Sam crawled back in the bed, away from the form that now seemed to be half Michael and half Lucifer combined.

He heard their voices laughing at him, heard their demands for him to be their mate, he felt their hands on him, and their presence inside of him. Sam grabbed the first thing he could get his hand on, which happened to be a pillow, and threw it at the form before launching himself out of the bed and running into the bathroom, locking the door from the inside.

Gabriel stared at the bathroom door. Sam's thoughts had been screaming so loud that he could clearly hear every word, or maybe those were his own thoughts, because he had the same mantra running through his mind. They were not safe. And maybe they never would be, but right now he needed to put all his focus onto breaking the trance that sam had found himself in. He sat on the other side of the door, knowing he shouldn't waste any of his grace, but not sure what else to do. He sent a small spark through the flimsy door and into Sam's mind, trying to clear the fog. He did so a few more times before he was successful.

The memories of their escape came back to sam all at once and his mind cleared enough for him to realize that it wasn't Michael or Lucifer on the other side of the door, it was Gabriel.

"Gabriel? Is that really you out there?"

Gabriel nodded before he remembered sam couldn't see him.

"Y-yes Sam."

His voice was rough and quiet, it had been a long time since he had spoken before tonight, and he found himself having to think before he answered, as if he had to remember how. He heard the door unlock and Crack open just enough forbsam to peak out and see with his own eyes that it was indeed Gabriel and not a monster.

"Where are we?"

Sams voice was quiet and scratchy as well, but Gabriel knew that it wasn't from a lack of use for him, it was due to all the screams his brothers had forced out of the man beside him.

"Motel."

That was all Gabriel could get out. He was exhausted and in pain, not to mention, he was jumping at every little noise he could hear, which being an archangel and having extra sensitive hearing, meant he was jumping every few seconds. Sam saw this and couldn't help the wave of emotion that washed through him. Here was the angel that pulled him from his place In hell, who saved him from his torture,  and he was just as terrified as sam, just as traumatized.  Sam scooted back from the door of the bathroom, opening it more as a silent invitation. Gabriel slowly moved in, sitting next to Sam, a few feet away. The room wasn't big, but it was big enough.

The boys stared at each other in silence. Feeling a similar feeling of comfort wash over both of them. They may have been in hell, but they had escaped, and now they sat beside the only other person who would ever be able to truly understand what they had each gone through. They didn't need to speak, they just sat silently for hours until the sun came up.

The first few days were hard. The boys hardly spoke, but then again, they didn't really need to. It was apparent that neither of them wanted to divulge what they had gone through entirely,  but they both though that they had a pretty good idea, enough at least to know not to ask about it.

They took shifts sleeping and keeping watch. Sam would sleep and he would be silent and look peaceful, for about 30 minutes, then he would shift and whimper, moaning out to be left alone. Gabriel would sit beside him and hum or sing different songs,  his voice seeming to sooth the hunter just enough for the nightmare to subside a little.

When Gabriel slept, there was nothing that could sooth him entirety.  He would thrash and moan, tears leaking from his eyes. Sam had tried to help the first night. He tried to sit beside the angel and sooth him with words and assurances, but when that didn't work he had tried to do the only thing he could think of, he tried to hold Gabriel.  That went awfully. It ended in sam being thrown off the bed as Gabriel shot up screaming, it took hours for him to calm down enough to realize that he was in the motel room and not in hell. Sam hadn't tried to touch him since, but he still tried to help. Eventually though, they knew they had to leave. They had to go find Dean and Cas.

The next morning, after another night of both boys trying and failing to get any rest, they left. Sam found a car in the parking lot and Gabriel snapped, unlocking the doors and starting the engine. Sam climbed into the driver seat while Gabriel climbed into the back, it was the only seat he could fit in since he was to low of grace to his his wings away yet. They started driving, deciding that the best plan was to just get to the bunker and hope their brothers were there.
