{ Ariana's POV }
"Yeah... No, no. I want it today... Yes," I overheard Y/n talk on her phone.
It's been a week and I was still pretty much sick. Y/n hadn't stopped taking care of me once. And as far as I could tell, it didn't seem like she was taking any drugs.
Until her phone call now, "Yeah, I'll send you the money once I have it in my hands." It sounded very suspicious.
I was laying on the couch in her living room, we were watching Thor, one of her favorite movies, before she unfortunately called someone.
"Oh, hey. You're up," Y/n said once she walked back to the living room.
I simply nodded and she sat next to me, "I had to make a phone call real quick."
"Okay," I said as I pulled my blankets up to my chin, bringing a smile onto her face.
Y/n wrapped her arm around my shoulder and pulled me into her. "You need anything?" She asked me but I shook my head.
"I'm okay." I said and she smiled lightly.
She caught me off guard by leaning down and placing a kiss on my forehead. I had yet to get used to her being so affectionate.
"I love you, alright?" She whispered after she pulled away a bit, my nose on hers still.
My once tired eyes were fully awake now, I forgot what it had sounded like to hear her say it. And I never knew what it felt like to hear her say it in this way, so genuine and real. My worries of her drug use disappeared for that time being.
"I- I love you too," I whispered back.
She smiled at me as she leaned her head against my forehead. Y/n was spooning me while we continued watching Thor: The Dark Kingdom.
The door rung and Y/n jumped up from the couch excitedly, "I'll go get it."
I sighed as I heard her footsteps sprint to the front door and open it. Her ordering drugs was the first and only thing that crossed my mind in that moment.
"Thanks man, I'll send the money," I could hear the grin in her voice before she sprinted back into the living room.
She looked excited but tried to play it cool so I wouldn't get suspicious. But I was already suspicious. "Hey, AG, I need your help real quick."
I looked up confused but also curious so I decided to get up nevertheless, my whole bones still hurting. I felt like a grandma. How do people want to live until they're 100? I'd kill myself if I had to feel like this everyday.
She led me to the hallway, where a large, elegantly wrapped package sat against the wall. "Go ahead, open it," she urged, nervousness was actually evident in her voice, only strengthening my curiosity.
Open it? Okay, what the fuck?
I carefully removed the wrapping paper to reveal a beautiful framed painting. My eyes widened in shock. "Y/n, is this... 'The Red Vineyard' by Vincent van Gogh?"
No drugs, but a painting of one of my favorite artists ever.
Y/n grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement and happiness. "It's a limited-edition print, one of only a few in the world. I remembered you mentioning how much you love van Gogh."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at the painting, then back at her. I remembered what I had mentally accused her of in my head. "I thought... Your phone call- I thought you were..."
Y/n smiled, pulling me into a gentle hug. "I know what you thought. But I've been clean a while. This is what the call was about. I wanted to get you something special."
I hugged her tightly, overwhelmed with gratitude and love for the much taller and stronger girl, "Thank you so much, baby. This is incredible. I love you so much."
Y/n kissed the top of my head before pulling away, "I want to apologize. I've been a piece of shit to you for months, maybe even over a year, but I want to show you that I mean my promise this time. I do love you, Ariana, and I want us to be better."
My eyes filled with tears again, my heart was melting at Y/n's efforts to stay clean and make me happy. The way that making me happy made her happy, filled me with a sense of peace I hadn't felt in a long time.
I looked up at her as I cupped her face in my hands softly. "You're doing an incredible job at it. You've been taking so much care of me for the past week and I couldn't thank you enough. You're such an awesome person, baby, and I'm so more than happy that I'm getting to know this side of you as well."
Y/n broke out into a huge grin at my praising words. She usually didn't like it but she seemed to enjoy it a lot at the moment.
I smiled at her as I tilted my head to the side, looking into her precious, soft eyes.
For the first time since I've known Y/n I didn't see the Typhoon Tip of October 1979 when looking in her eyes. Sure they weren't completely at peace, but now I only saw a medium tropical cyclone.
I swung my arms around her and kissed her chin, not wanting to make her sick. "You've been doing such a great job lately, baby. Don't think that I don't see your incredible progress because I do. But I know that you don't like compliments much. I am so proud of you, baby, I could cry."
Y/n kissed my neck softly, not saying anything, but it was okay. I could tell by the way that she kissed my lips so softly and beautifully how grateful she was of my words.
"I'm sick, dummy," I whispered against her lips once she pulled away.
I felt her smile against my lips before she nuzzled her face into my neck, placing a thousand kisses on it. "Stop, baby!" I laughed as her kisses tickled me.
She pulled away one more time and looked down at me, her eyes glowing with love and joy. "I just wanted to make you smile," she said softly.
"You always do," I replied, reaching up to touch her cheek. "Even when you don't try, you make me happy."
Y/n's eyes softened even more, and she leaned down to kiss my forehead again. "Let's get you back to the couch. You need to rest and recover."
She guided me back to the living room, her arm wrapped protectively around me. We settled back on the couch, and she pulled the blankets over us both, holding me close as we continued watching the movie.
As I snuggled into her embrace, feeling her warmth and love, I knew that we were going to be okay. Y/n was changing, and she was doing it for us. Her efforts to stay clean and make me happy were paying off, and I could see a future for us, filled with love and happiness. She was finally giving me hope.
"Y/n," I whispered, looking up at her.
"Yeah, baby?" she responded, her eyes still focused on the screen.
"I believe in you," I said softly. "I believe in us."
She looked down at me, her eyes filled with emotion. "Thank you, Ariana. That means everything to me."
With a simple smile, I layed my head on her chest and eventually fell asleep.
