"T-troop member Shinomiya has taken down the target!" You can hear Kurusu announced in your earpice that continuously beep with each minute, as the others are reporting their own side and are asking for back-ups here and there. You just puff out your cheeks, pulling out your spear off the Kaiju's head as its blood spurted out like a fountatin from the wound.

You had later found out about where their core located after annihilating five Kaiju in the last minutes. You had discarded your respiratory mask as it irritated your face and you are having more trouble breathing with it rather than without it.

"Troop member Shinomiya has taken down another target!" Kurusu's voice once again reverberated in the earpiece, he was shocked upon seeing the status of Kikoru, since she's been neutralizing Kaiju here and there, and it's only been five minutes since she was deployed from the base.

Leaping into the air, you landed gracefully on the side of a building, immediately breaking into a sprint along its surface. The buildings and roads blurred around you as you jumped from building to building, scanning the area for more Kaiju. Each leap was executed with precision, but there was an unsettling feeling gnawing at you.

Even before your deployment, the sensation had been bothering you. It was as if a premonition of impending doom lingered in your mind, growing stronger with each passing moment. The uncertainty of it all was unsettling, casting a shadow over your every move.

"Troop member Shinomiya and Platoon Leader Shinonome have taken down another target!" And again, you could hear the Operation leader's voice in your earpiece. You were slightly surprised to hear Kikoru easily defeat three monsters in less than ten minutes.

Making the other leaders doubt that she's just a new recruit. "Yo, is this really her first year?" You heard Platoon Leader Miyake's surprised voice, finding it amusing to hear Kikoru's names be announced three times in a row. "Isn't she stronger than you in your first year, Narumi?" Then, you heard Hasegawa spoke, earning a groan from the said man.

"HUH? HUH? I was more than that!" You could hear the frustration and disbelief in his voice, your ear was ringing from how loud his voice was. "Eh? That's not what I heard from Captain Ashiro." You butted in, chuckling in response as you could imagine the annoyed look in Narumi's face right now.

He then once again shouted, making excuses here and there but you know that half of what he is saying was just made up so you didn't bothered listening to his yapping.

"But this is odd." Narumi seriously spoke in the earpiece, you were just standing on top of an establishment right now, looking at the Kaiju and some soldiers who were already taking matters on their own hands. "Oh, the monsters?" Hasegawa replied, wondering what Narumi might be speaking about.

"Yeah... First of all, ant-type Kaiju are rarely seen above ground." He started off, your eyes narrowed at the Kaiju, feeling more like you're the ant one compared to their sizes right now. "There have been examples of encounters with them underground during tunnel construction..." He continued explaining.

"But this is probably the first time in history for this many to appear above ground." As he continued saying all of that, you just realized that he was actually right. This is first record in history to have such amount of ant-type Kaiju to be on the ground. Typically, they'll only be seen beneath the ground.

"Unless there's a much powerful Kaiju that is leading them." You couldn't help but to speak your mind. Voicing out your thoughts, eyeing how the Kaiju had collapsed on its feet as the soldiers had a small celebration for defeating the monster.

"Yeah," Narumi hum in agreement. "Monsters acting different from their natural behavior... seems similar to the incident at Tachikawa Base." Your eyes slightly widen, remembering Kaiju no. 10 who managed to group the wyvern-type Honju to work as one to raid the base. "A bothersome leader who has some sort of objective."
