Girsha's POV
I was at the brothel and had just finished fixing a beer pipe when Mr. Hikks came over and smiled. "Hello, Ms. Girsha, how are we today?" I got up off the floor and said. "Good, thankyou Sir, the pipe is all fixed, by the way." Mr Hikks clapped his hands and tested the tap. It flowed well. Mr Hikk poured what came out of the tape into a glass and handed it to me. "Here you are. What would I do without you, huh Girsha?"
I understood what he meant, since Leora had been focusing more on her magic I was focusing more on making up some gold to use when we live in the clan, some things are traded but others need gold to pay for, and it's always good to hold on to some just in case. I was doing old jobs around the brothel and the wine merchant's shop.
"I don't think you'll have me for much longer, Sir. Leora is really progressing in her magic, and we plan to move to my home clan and marry when she's done. Mr Hikks smiled. "That's great news dear, you two are very lucky you have each other. I will be sad to see you go, though, but you must go where your heart leads you." He took a cloth to my face and rubbed off some grease from the pipe.
"I'm not surprised she wants to live as an Orc, any regular human would struggle to change, or elf for that mater, but from what I've heard about Mages, their need in their souls to learn magic stems from their connection to this world that is far closer than anyone else could know. Even tribal species can't understand their connection to the world. But Mages are still mortal and will gravitate to the culture they feel the most connected to. It is surprising that it could be a culture without magic, but then I don't know all about Mages, I don't think even Fairies know all about Mages."
I nodded and answered with. "My father and my mother believe she could have been an Orc in her past life. Could that have anything to do with it?" Mr Hikks rubbed his chin in thought. "Very well could be, but the only person who would know that answer in the Fairy who created her." I smiled and patted the short Elf on the arm. "Thanks, Sir."
I soon got up, and Mr. Hikks handed my 10 pieces of gold. "What's this for?" I asked, confused. "Buy her something lovely from me to go in your future home." I nodded and said a small thankyou before pocketing the golf and starting the walk home.
Once I got inside, I saw Leora trying to learn an animation spell, but it wasn't working, and Leora threw the spell at the wall. She screamed at it, and I rushed over to hug her. "Leora! It's okay." I said, rubbing her back. "How long have you been trying this spell?" I asked as I kissed her hands. They were always tingly when she did a spell.
"All morning!" Leora cried and started breathing rapidly. "Hey, look at me." Leora looked to me and cried again. "Hey, it's okay, you'll have good days and bad days, you'll get there. Just breathe and know when to walk away." Leora nodded and sniffled into my chest. "Why do you always have to be right?" She laughed, which made me smile.
"Have you eaten?" I asked, which made Leora shake her head. "Well, that can't be helpful. No, Orc can work on an empty stomach." Leora laughed and shook her head. "I'm not an Orc." She said between giggles. "Of course you are! You are my future bride and Orc to be." I said before kissing her nose. "And you deserve that title."
I held onto Leora's small body before placing her down on the counter so I could start making lunch/ dinner. Leora kicked her legs and hummed whilst she waited. I could feel her eyes on me. "What are you looking at?" I asked, smirking. Leora laughed and held out her arms for me.
I stood between her legs and kissed her head. "Sing for me?" Leora asked as she cuddled up to my chest. "Okay, let me think of a song..."
"Turn in the low light to face me
Our bodies still wet from the creek
Hair falling thick on my pillow
Your curls in my palm black as ink
Holding my breath in this moment
The weight of it honest and true
'Cause darling, I've never been lucky
But somehow I've made it to youAnother year nearing at midnight
The bangs and the cheers in the smoke
A new world for us, dear, is dawning
With all the good days that we're owed
You smile and you say come and kiss me
You're gripping my hands as they shake
And for the first time I count myself lucky
To live out a drеam while I wakeOh, you'll be the one I call lover
And I'll be the one at your side
We'll make our meals in the evening
And pay the old landlord on time
Now walk with me out in the garden
Turn your face to the sun
Oh, could you believe we're so lucky
To live like we've already wonWhen the trees have gone bare in the winter
And the ink in your curls has run grey
I'll smile and I'll say come and kiss me
Soft as the end of the day
'Cause somehow we made it out sweetly
Sure as sun and snow
They say life is long if you're lucky
And darling, I'd say we would know
They say life is long if you're lucky
My darling, I'd say we would know"I smiled down at Leora as I sang, and she looked up at me. "That was beautiful, Girsha." Leora said before kissing my lips. "No. You are beautiful." I said and kissed her again. "You are beautiful too." I held onto Leora's hips for a little while longer before I heard her stomach growl. "Okay, I better make you some food." We both laughed, and I went back to cooking.
