The following week was a whirlwind of classes and job interviews for Judith. She was anxious about her prospects but kept her focus, determined to achieve a way to support herself. Her friends from the computer club had been incredibly supportive, offering words of encouragement and even helping her prepare for interviews.

One afternoon, Judith received an email notification while she was studying in her dorm room. Her heart pounded as she clicked on it.

"Congratulations, Judith! We are pleased to offer you the position of IT Support Technician at Rockeford University."

Judith let out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding and smiled widely. This was it – her first step towards independence, to be away from the dramas of her new life.

---

Judith was nervous on her first day, but she was also excited. The IT department was housed in a modern building on the campus, with rows of desks, each equipped with state-of-the-art computers. The air hummed with the quiet buzz of technology.

She was greeted by Mark, the department head, a middle-aged man with a friendly demeanor. He gave her a quick tour of the office, introducing her to her new colleagues.

"Welcome aboard, Judith," Mark said with a warm smile. "We're excited to have you on the team. Let's get you set up."

Judith was shown to her desk, a clean and organized space with dual monitors and all the necessary equipment. As she settled in, her mind raced with thoughts of proving herself in this role. She also wondered why Mark didn't seem to be surprised that she is working here.

She is THE Judith Wellester after all, albeit with a bad reputation.

Maybe Mark and anyone else here doesn't care, which I hope is true.

---

Her first task was to assist with troubleshooting a network issue that had been causing problems for several students in one of the dormitories. Working alongside a more experienced technician named Brian, Judith quickly got the hang of the protocols and systems they used.

"You're a fast learner," Brian noted, impressed. "Most new hires take a while to get comfortable."

Judith smiled, appreciating the compliment. "Thanks, Brian. I had a good experience in my previous l... I mean, back in my high school tech club..." She trailed off, eyes widened in shock from what she blurted out.

"What's wrong?" Asked Brian.

"It's nothing!"

Wait! The original Judith never went to a high school tech club! Sh*t, me and my mouth! It's too late to take it back. Hopefully, they won't look to deep in my background.

As the day went on, Judith found herself enjoying the work more and more. She loved the problem-solving aspect of the job and appreciated the respectful and collaborative environment.

That evening, after her first successful day on the job, Judith decided to share the good news with her friends at the computer club. As she walked into the clubroom, the familiar faces of Liam, Zayden, Xavier, and Charles greeted her.

"Hey, guys!" Judith called out, a broad smile on her face.

"Judith! How was the interview?" Liam asked eagerly.

"Actually," she began, unable to hide her excitement, "I got the job!"

A chorus of cheers erupted from the group except Zayden. The guy himself nodded with a smile at her.

"That's awesome news, Judith!" Liam exclaimed, giving her a high five.

"Congratulations! I knew you'd get it," said Charles, beaming at her.

"Great job, Judith. You totally deserve it," added Xavier, nodding in approval.

"Well done," said Zayden.

Judith felt a wave of warmth from their support. "Thanks, everyone. It feels great to finally have a job, especially one I would enjoy."

They spent the rest of the evening celebrating Judith's success. The room was filled with laughter and camaraderie as they shared stories and future plans. They even played video games.

The next few days passed in a blur of activity. Judith quickly adapted to her new routine, balancing her IT job with her classes and computer club activities. Her confidence grew as she handled more complex issues at work and continued to contribute valuable insights to the club's project.

One evening, after a particularly challenging day, Judith decided to unwind in the computer club room. As she walked in, she noticed Zayden sitting alone, engrossed in his laptop. She approached him, curious.

"Hey, Zayden," she greeted, "what are you working on?"

Zayden looked up. "Just tweaking the recommendation algorithm for our Metube project. I think I found a way to make it more accurate."

Judith sat down next to him. "That's awesome! Mind if I take a look?"

He nodded and turned the laptop towards her. They spent the next hour brainstorming ideas and making adjustments. Judith found herself enjoying the collaboration, appreciating Zayden's quiet but sharp intellect.

"You know," Zayden said suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence, "I've noticed something different about you lately."

Judith's heart skipped a beat. "Different? How so?"

Zayden shrugged. "You're more confident, more knowledgeable. It's like you've become a different person since we met the start of this semester."

Judith swallowed hard, trying to keep her expression neutral. "I guess... I just decided to take things more seriously. College is a crucial time, after all."

Zayden nodded slowly, as if contemplating her words. "Well, whatever it is, it's working. You're doing great."

Judith felt a rush of gratitude. "Thanks, Zayden. That means a lot."

As the days turned into weeks, Judith's life began to settle into a comfortable rhythm. She thrived in her IT role, gaining more responsibilities and respect from her colleagues. Her classes were going well, and the computer club's Metube project was progressing smoothly.

One Friday evening, after a particularly productive club meeting, Liam suggested they all go out to celebrate. "We need to take a break and have some fun," he declared. "How about we hit up that new café in town?"

Everyone agreed, and soon they found themselves at a cozy café, sipping on various drinks and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. Judith felt a sense of belonging she hadn't experienced in a long time. These friends had become something more to her...like a family.

As they chatted and laughed, Judith couldn't help but reflect on how far she had come. She had entered this world as an outsider, unsure of her place, but now....

She is beginning to build a life for herself is this new world.
