Mia was being escorted to Professor Dumbledore's office. She didn't know why he wanted to see her. She thought she had covered her tracks well with sneaking around.

They were just about to his office when she saw her Papa walking towards them. "Papa!"

"Mia? Why are you in this portion of the castle? Did you do something?" Severus asked.

"No. I was told Dumbledore wanted to see me. I don't know why. Can you come with me? I'm nervous."

Severus looked at the prefect. "I will escort her from here. Thank you."

They climbed the gargoyle staircase. "Ahh Amelia and....Severus. Thank you for bringing her. You may leave."

"Actually, headmaster, Mia is my daughter. I will stay and find out why she is here."

At this point, you could see Dumbledore was getting upset. "This really doesn't concern you, Severus."

"Anything that pertains to my daughter is my concern. What is it she has brought here for?"

"That's right! You tell him Snape!" Barty Crouch Jr cheered

Dumbledore turned to her, "Amelia, I believe you were sorted into the wrong house. You need to be resorted."

James yelled,"What?! No, she is fine where she is!"

"No, I don't! I am a proud Slytherin and am excelling where I am!"

Severus spoke up. "The sorting hat is never wrong.  There is no reason to resort her.  She will stay in Slytherin."

Dumbledore actually tried to square up to Severus. "Last time I checked, I was Headmaster. I make the rules and decisions around here."

"And last time I checked, I am her father. I make the decision in her best interest." He retorted. "Mia, you may head back to the common room. Why don't you go pack, we will leave tonight instead of the morning for vacation."

"You tell him Sev!" Lily yells

"Ok, Papa."

"What is this all about? Mia is excelling in her classes and social life. There is no reason to resort her." He asked.

"Her REAL father and mother would have wanted her in Gryffindor. I am just respecting their wishes."

Lily scoffs. "I wouldn't have given a shit!"

"Lily wouldn't have given a shit! She would have loved her daughter no matter what! This is the only time I'm going to tell you. Stay away from my daughter."

Dumbledore was not done speaking, but Severus left anyway. He entered his chambers and grabbed his luggage. "Deek!"

The house elf appeared. "Yes, sir, Snape?"

"Could you let the keepers know I am leaving early due to Dumbledore. I will try to access Penelope's vault tomorrow and will report back to them upon the return from Christmas."

The elf bowed. "Of course, sir."

He proceeded to the Slytherin common room to retrieve Mia. When he entered the common living room, he saw both Mia and Draco with suitcases.

"I see you are ready, Mia. I don't believe Draco will fit in your trunk, though."

Draco stands while holding Mia's hand. "My father gave me orders that if you and Mia were to leave, I am to follow. He doesn't trust the headmaster."

"Neither of us do. Very well, Draco, you will apperate with us. We will need to walk to the outer gate of Hogwarts to do so." Severus said.

As they began walking, Mia pulled Severus into a hug. "He was wrong....Dumbledore. You are my real father. I love you."

Even though James was happy she was raised with love,  the scene stung his heart.  He always dreamed of a family and to see his daughter have this moment with someone who wasn't him hurt.

He placed a kiss on the top of her head. "I know. I love you too." He took her hand and said, "I hated your father in school. Even as adults, we never made amends. However, I started to be able to tolerate the idea of him because I'm grateful he gave me you."

Younger Severus looked down at the young woman who held his hand and would become his daughter later in life.  "When did I get so sappy?"

Mia looked at him and giggled. "The night you took me in. "
