Truth ( part one )
Leon’s POV
Days blurred together as i sat by Saoirse’s hospital bed, willing her to wake up. Each passing moment without her conscious felt like an eternity of uncertainty and fear. I visited her daily, holding onto hope that she would open her eyes and everything would return to normal.
One afternoon, as i sat beside her, my phone rang, startling me out of my thoughts. It was the police officer in charge of investigating the hit-and-run that had injured Saoirse. My heart raced with anticipation as i answered the call.
“Mr. Castelli, we have a lead on the driver,” the officer informed me urgently.
I rushed to the police station, desperate for any information that could lead to justice for Saoirse. The officer briefed me quickly, revealing that they had traced the car involved in the accident to Reeve. Shock and disbelief washed over me as i processed the information. Reeve, Saoirse’s childhood friend, and now this?
“He’s set to leave the country in a few hours,” the officer added gravely.
Without hesitation, i called upon my friends for help. Together, we tracked Reeve’s location and i sped to intercept him before he could escape justice. When i finally caught up with Reeve, blocking his car with mine, my hands clenched the steering wheel in fury.
Reeve stepped out of his car, a mocking smile on his face. “What’s this, Leon? Finally ready to confront me?”
I didn’t respond, my anger simmering beneath the surface. Instead, i swung a punch at him, catching him off guard. “Bakit mo ginawa ’yun kay Saoirse?” i demanded, my voice raw with emotion.
Reeve stumbled back, surprise flickering in his eyes before he laughed sarcastically. “So, you found out,” he said, his tone dripping with bitterness.
“Bakit, Reeve?” i lressed, my fists tightening. “Why would you hurt Saoirse, someone you’ve known for years?”
Reeve’s laughter turned dark. “it was supposed to be you,” he admitted coldly. “But Saoirse pulled you out of the way. She ruined everything.”
“Why?” I shouted, shaking with anger and disbelief. “Why did you want to hurt me?”
Reeve’s expression twisted with resentment. “Because you stole everything from me,” he spat out. “The life I was supposed to have, the family, the businesses. And now you’ve taken Saoirse too.”
“Ano bang pinagsasabi mo Reeve?” i asked him furiously.
“I’m the brother you lost years ago, Leon!” he shouted, i can feel his anger through his voice.
The revelation hit me like a blow to the chest. “Reeve, i...” my voice breaking.
“Doesn’t matter,” Reeve sneered. “You have everything. And now you have her too.”
The realization of Reeve’s bitterness and jealousy cut deep. “You’re my brother,” I said quietly, the weight of the truth sinking in. “We could have been family.”
“Family?” Reeve scoffed. “You and I will never be family.”
