Truth ( part two )

Leon’s POV

Reeve turned to run, but i was quicker. i caught him by the arm, spinning him around. He swung at me, but i dodged his punches with ease. Each missed strike seemed to fuel his frustration.

“Tama na, Reeve!” i shouted, trying to reach him through his anger. “This isn't the way!”

His eyes burned with rage. “You took everything from me, Leon!”

Before he could land another punch, the sound of police sirens filled the air. Officers quickly surrounded us, pulling Reeve away and restraining him. I watched as they led him to a squad car, his face twisted with anger and betrayal.

At the police station, i saw my parents arriving, their faces etched with worry and confusion. The officers briefed them on what had transpired, and i could see the shock and disbelief in their eyes as they processed the information.

“We need to speak to our sons,” my father said, his voice trembling.

Reeve was brought into the room, his hands cuffed. The sight of him like that made my heart ache. He looked at our parents with a mixture of defiance and pain.

“Reeve?” my mother asked, tears streaming down her face. “Anak, why would you do this?”

Reeve’s facade crumbled, and he let out a bitter laugh. “You want to know why? Because for years, i lived with the knowledge that i was abandoned. You lost me in the woods and never found me. I was adopted by strangers, while you continued with your perfect family and business.”

My father stepped forward, his face pale. “We never stopped looking for you, Reeve. We thought you were lost forever.”

Reeve’s eyes flashed with anger. “And Leon? He got to live the life that should have been mine. The family, the responsibilities—everything. And now he’s taken Saoirse, the woman i’ve loved for years, too.”

I felt the weight of his words, the depth of his pain. “Reeve, i didn’t know,” i said quietly. “I never wanted to take your place. I never wanted any of this. I always hoped to find you, to bring you back home.”

Our parents looked between us, their faces full of sorrow and regret. “We failed you both,” my mother whispered. “We put so much pressure on Leon, and we lost you, Reeve.”

The room was silent, the weight of our collective grief and guilt hanging heavily in the air. Reeve’s shoulders slumped, and for the first time, i saw the vulnerability beneath his anger.

“I was just a kid,” he said softly. “I didn’t want to be forgotten.”

My father stepped forward, tears in his eyes. “You were never forgotten, Reeve. We love you. We love both of you. And we’re sorry for everything.”
