Ethan was at work in the office of the Callsburg-Dakster Oil and Gas company when his mom Julia walked in "Good morning son,how are things going?"

"Mom, I would like to ask your opinion of what how ask a young lady for her hand in marriage." Ethan asked feeling like a heavy rock was going to drown him soon. Then looking up seeing his dad behind his mom, "UMM dad, could you help me out here?"

Erron Dakster laughing at what he heard "On what do you need help with Son?" As he did not hear what he had asked Julia.

"How did you propose to mom? When did you plan it?" Ethan asked wryly.

Julia turning around playfully slapped Erron on the shoulder said "Don't mind him, He knows nothing of romance. You might start by asking her parents for her hand before asking her for the first date then ask her out with her favorite flowers. That might work."

Ethan breathed a sigh of relief saying "Wow that probably would be better. Thanks mom and dad, I appreciate the help. See you later at the meeting." promptly shutting off his computer and headed out the door hearing his dad.

"Son just hold up there. Where do you think you are going it is time to go to work not vacation time. So get back here. WE have a rig inspection coming up and I want you to do that today first before anything else you do. So let's grab our paper work and head to the site to get started." Erron's stern voice said as he was seeing his son walk towards the door.

Julia received a call from Sharie as her husband and oldest son were walking out the door "How can I help you Sharie?"

"I guess you heard the news? That Ethan is in love. It's Kelby, he likes the most, so he wants to ask her to be his one and only." Sharie said in a voice that rang with excitement.

Laughingly Julia spoke up "So this is what that was about. He wants to ask Kelby to be his wife. Oh he is in for it now. At the ball this Year we will host it as the announcement of his and her engagement ball and hold it at the civic center for both corporations to meet and socialize as well. It will be a bigger place for everyone to meet and all the Christmas decorations will be up for the whole town to enjoy. "

Sharie thinking "yes and have a place designed for them to be in front of everyone when he does propose to her and I think a Christmas wreath would be the center area for their dance and proposal to take place. Don't you think?"

"Oh yes that would be a real treat to have something like that for them or anyone else to propose to their loved one would welcome the idea for that to take place. I think I'll ask the civic center to set it up for the Christmas season for anyone who wants to do so may use it and we will have the ball there the day before Christmas Eve. for this" Julia having replied "Well I have got to start planning here. Got to get back to work " Julia hung up the phone.

Ronnie Neiah was puttering in the garden out front when he heard his phone ring and heard Kelby on the other end asking "Dad have you seen Julia today? I thought I saw her as she was heading down our street when I left the house to get to the construction site to do the inspection for the builders there."

"No, I haven't seen her, Why do you want to talk to her? I'll have her call you when I do." her dad said calmly as he smiled. Looking up from the flower bed he sees a truck pull into the driveway, and sees that it is Ethan stepping out looking all filthy from the oil that he had been to the rig climbing around on from an inspection. "Hello there Son what you doing here for?"

"Icametoaskforyourpermissiontodate your daughterandaskher to bemywife, if you will allow it sir?" Ethan states in a hurry sounding all flustered.

"So calm down boy no one is going to eat you up here. Now say that again so's I can understand you Ethan", Ronnie said in a very pleasing tone.

Ethan took a deep breath saying again in a slower voice "I came to ask your permission for your daughter's hand in marriage. I would like to date her first If that is okay with you? Sir."

Ronnie laughed saying "Boy it's about time you came to your senses. And yes you may and you both have my blessing as well. So when do you plan on proposing to my sweet little girl?"

"The Christmas ball, my parents give if that is okay? You will be there along with you company employees as well " Ethan sounded a little unsure of the answer would be.

"Well that will be our honor to be there to share in this joyous occasion, While bringing the families closer as well. So what does your parents say about this young man, ummm" Ronnie said light heartedly with a smile from ear to ear and light shining in his eyes.

Ethan talked a great length with Ronnie on how he planned to surprise Kelby with the engagement and start dating soon with a wedding to follow for next year hopefully for the two of them. They got along real well considering that Ethan was scared at first of what to expect from Ronnie Neiah, and was put at ease after talking with him about Kelby while finding out about what she needed from him to make her feel comfortable and loved. Ethan said his goodbye and thanked Ronnie for the acceptance of his pursuit of Kelby and the blessing of their marriage before hand.

When Ethan arrived back home, called his mom, sounding out of breath "Mom, I spoke to Ronnie and asked if I could be dating Kelby and ask for her hand in marriage, oh mom it was a great time to visit with her dad, he really said it was okay and that it's about time that I came to my senses, I guess it was written allover my face"

Julia was laughing about the one sided conversation with Ethan remembering when he did that as a child. Asking if Santa Clause was real and would he be bringing him a brother to play with. Remembering that it was Ronnie Neiah who played Santa Clause that year as well.
