"I'm sorry!!!" Isac suddenly yells.
It made the guards stop dragging him while the crowd and even the judge and the jury turned to him with a confused expression.
"I'm sorry." Isac said again but his words were barely audible.
He didn't want to stay in the courtroom anymore so he decided to leave on his own accords with the guards dragging him warily.
Rory could only cry. She could see how helpless he is with no one nor have the chance to defend himself.
No one was willing to listen to him.
And after he was taken out of the room and the judge left after. The families started clamoring again.
"Look at them!" Emil grumbles as he glares at the family talking as if they've been robbed.
"Why didn't they say anything when Isac was here? They looked as if they were gonna sh*t their pants." He added with a clearly annoyed tone.
"Isac scares them. They probably won't be able to say anything even if they watched him get decapitated." Adam huffs.
He is equally upset because the words that they are saying hurts even if it's not about them. They are hurting for the sake of Isac who's definitely gonna feel a lot more pain when he hears what they say.
"Come on. There's no point staying here." Rory said quietly and was the first to leave. Then the three followed.
Adam and Emil refused to greet some of the families they were close to. They're hurt by the fact that they couldn't even find themselves to ask if Isac maybe had his reason. They never cared even when the judge mentioned earlier that Isac has a split personality.
The four exited the courtroom. But before they could leave the establishment, they saw the officer who took their statement the night Johann was brought to the station.
Rory immediately approached him.
"Excuse me officer!" She called to get his attention.
"Miss Rory! I didn't expect to see you here." The officer responded with a rather surprised expression after seeing all four of them.
"Isac's gonna be executed tomorrow. Do you think we'll be allowed to see him? Even for a few minutes?" She asked in a desperate tone.
Adam and Emil exchanged looks because they thought Rory would leave already after listening in the trial.
"I don't think so. Nobody's allowed to see him. Especially now."
"Please. We're the only family he has. You already gave him a death sentence at least let us talk to him." Adam decided to speak up as he too finds it rather unfair that they can't talk to their friend even after he's sentenced to death.
"The judge will not allow it. We don't know when he's gonna act up again. Even if he's your friend, he can still hurt you." The officer tried to explain and Rory finally exploded.
"Just let us see him! He's not gonna be able to hurt anyone the way you chained him as if he's a fu**ing dog!!!" She snapped and even caught attention from some of the people in the hallway.
Adam and Emil wanted to stop her but Kali clearly warned them not to.
"He's still a person! Even if he killed people! Isac is still in him! He didn't say anything to defend himself and let the judge sentence him!"
"You didn't even give him the chance to speak his part. The least you could do is let us see him before you kill him and you can't even do that!!?"
The girl wipes her tears as she glares at the officer. If she had her own split personality, she would've grabbed the officer's gun and blew up his head. She'd shoot everyone on her way if they all tried to stop her from seeing her boyfriend.
"Listen. Even if I want to let you talk to him. They're not gonna allow anyone close to his cell." The officer said as he tried to beckon them to somewhere private but the four refused to move.
"Just let her talk to Isac. A few minutes will do. We don't have to talk to him." Emil tried to negotiate.
"Rory's gonna leave tomorrow. Just let her speak to him for a few minutes and you won't hear from us again." Kali adds.
The officer looks at them one by one. His expression says he's thinking too hard about it.
He's known Isac since he was a kid because he's always going to church. He also knows Adam and Emil since they were once troublemakers before they served the church."Fine. I'll get you inside. But you need to be quick. When I tell you to leave you have to leave." He said and Rory immediately nodded vehemently.
They followed the officer somewhere in the building. When they got to the hall where Isac's locked. The guards tried to stop them.
The officer whispered at the guard and the four swore they saw him bribe him with a few bills before they were let in.
"Isac's inside. But only one can go in. I'll be inside too so I can make sure nobody gets hurt." The officer said to them.
"Go on." Kali said and ushered the girl to go.
"W-will you tell Isac... we don't hate him. We forgive him." Adam said to her.
He wanted to say it to Isac himself. But only Rory could go inside and it was better than nothing.
"Yeah. Tell that prick that we're still his friends. And we'll always be here no matter what." Emil adds, wiping away the tears that suddenly came out.
Rory only nods before she finally walks inside after the other guard that the officer bribed removed all the five locks on the door.
Isac was tied by the radiator in the room. He was sitting on the floor while hugging his knees.
"Isac..." Rory called in a broken voice as she could no longer contain her tears.
Isac immediately turned to her and his blunt expression became terrified as he scooted further into the corner of the room.
"W-why are you here?! You have to go! It's not safe for you!" Isac yells but his eyes tell otherwise as he began crying.
Rory cared less about what he said and immediately ran to hug him. She didn't need to worry about getting choked or kicked away since Isac's literally restrained to keep him from hurting anyone and even himself.
"I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner." She said as she moved back to look at him.
"Why? You didn't have to come. Why didn't you just leave?" Isac cried.
Rory stared back at him and her heart ached again because she had to break her own promise in front of him.
"I'm leaving tomorrow... I wanted to see you before I go..." She said and Isac's expression became even more sad.
Because deep inside. Even if he wanted her to leave. He longs for her and all he ever desires is for everything to get better again and to stay by her side without worrying about anything.
"I'm sorry this had to happen to you. I'm sorry I couldn't do anything to help."
"Don't be. I killed them all. It's only fair I suffer and pay for it."
"But it wasn't you! You never chose this life."
"And yet I still killed them. Whether it was Johann or me. They all died by my hands. In the eyes of the people and even in God. I have sinned and I'm the only one who needs to pay for it."
"No. I don't believe that. If your God cares about you, He knows this is not your doing. You always said he have a plan. He won't let you--"
"This is His plan."
Isac's smile suddenly felt deja vu. The last time Rory saw him genuinely smile was when she thought everything was going well.
"I know now that He brought you to my life so I can finally have the courage to pay for my sins. Just like I told you..."
"You are my savior."
