Chapter 16: Rivalry

In town. Lycoris and Cethin are walking back to the dorm.

Cethin: How do you think Harbin's doing?

Lycoris: Don't know. Don't care.

Cethin: That's fair enough. I have to ask Lycoris. You have this kind of shadowy personality. You keep to yourself a lot and you always say that you don't care. So, with that being said, why do you do this?

Lycoris: Do what?

Cethin: Being an insomniac.

Lycoris: Being an insomniac has nothing to do with me. It is merely just a disorder that I gained during my life.

Cethin: No not that. Like, being a part of The Twilight Dynasty. If you don't care, then why are you here?

Lycoris: Hmmm. I want to do something with my life aside from just getting a job and rotting away. When I was granted this opportunity, I decided to take it. I want to be a hero. But not the kind like Spider-Man. I want to help people, because I can't help myself. I may look like I don't care, but I do the majority of the time. However, unlike Spider-Man, I will kill anyone who gets in my way. I have a sense of justice, but I understand the steps I'll have to take to get there. Not everyone deserves to die. So I won't kill everyone. But I will kill those who deserve it. Thorus, Anemone, and whoever that Godrick guy was. They fall into that category. Even if we haven't seen Godrick do anything yet, I have no doubts he's just as evil.

Cethin: So you have a sense of malicious justice? I kinda respect that.

Lycoris: Why?

Cethin: Well if you don't have a care for what you do, you won't feel bad about killing those who want you dead. You could kill Thorus for example, but you won't care because it's deserved.

Lycoris: Do other people not think that way?

Cethin: Justice within the media is shown as "Don't kill ANYONE! No matter what!". Like your example with Spider-Man.

Lycoris: It shouldn't be something that's complicated. I understand why someone wouldn't want to kill. But I'm not them.

7:15pm. In the dorm.

Harbin is sitting in the main living area, pondering to themself.

Harbin's Thoughts: Do I have to fight Thorus? What if this is a trap? What if this is a way in which he's gonna use the rest of his team to kill me? I mean, he seems pretty prideful. So maybe he wouldn't do that. What am I saying? I can't trust him. My suspicions were correct as well. No one else is going out tonight. Lycoris and Cethin are recovering, and Mya and Quinn are trying to find her sister. What should I do?

Quinn walks down the stairs and walks into the main living area.

Quinn: You okay, Harbin?

Harbin: Hm? Yeah I'm okay.

Quinn: We aren't going out tonight. You're free to go by yourself unless you have something else to do. I trust you won't get yourself killed. But if you feel as though you might, then please do not try to pursue further. Come back to the dorm and ensure you aren't followed. You're mature. For the most part.

Harbin: Got it.

Quinn: Are you sure you're okay?

Harbin: I am.

Quinn: Harbin. If something's happening then tell me. I may not be the leader of this group, but I'm still your friend. I'm here for you.

Harbin: I know.
