✨Ruhanika's POV 🥀
"But why don't you leave him, di? Why don't you just break this namesake relationship of father and daughter and move on with what makes you happy." I finally said what I had in my heart from the time I started understanding everything.
Rajat Khanna. The man who adopted my sister but never became a father she deserves. After his wife's death, my sister was just a maid for him. Who would do the daily chores, helps him with his own basic needs, and then sit in a corner of the big house to rot in silence.
I was twelve when his wife and the women who loved my sister passed and since then this have been the routine. My sister wakes up in the morning, cleans the house, cooks the food, do the laundary, washes his cars, waters the plants and then spends her day in the store they call 'room'. And after all this, she never complaints. Why? Because he has given her a place to live.
Live? I scoof. She do everything in the house than living, for sure. She barley smiles, when I am not here, let alone live.
She put the spatula down and rounding the counter, came in front of me. I was sitting on the window sill, watching the drops pitter patter against it. Tucking the hairs behind my ears, she held my chin gently and turn my face to face her.
"Because it takes nothing to destroy, Ruhi. And everything to create. The power to demolish is effortlessbut the strength is build?" She smiled. "That strength is what truly matters. "
The memory was still fresh in my mind. As soon as the words left his mouth, I was instantly reminded of the person for whom all this started, not that I can ever forget her. My smirk falls down, my palms curled into a fist, my jaw clenched and I turned my face to other side to hide it from his predatrous gaze.
I won't give him the satisfaction.
He again takes a step forward. "Only weak people can destroy, Ruhi. Because it takes a lot of strength to create."
My patience snapped and I stood up from the couch and stand in front of him. Snapping my fingers, I opened my mouth to burst out but as soon as my eyes met his, nothing came out of it. He looked at my finger, right in front of his face and then at me again. His gaze was piercing like always as if he would see my soul through my eyes. The smile never left his face.
I shake my head in disgust because this guy, infront of me don't even deserve my words. Let alone my outburst.
I dropped my finger and ran a hand through my hairs, releasing a harsh breath.
"What happened? Did the words die or they they were so weak to come out in open?"
I looked at him again. But didn't reply anything. He was mad. I can look it in his eyes. And that was enough to keep my anger at bay.
"You know, Ruhi?" He again takes a step forward until he was standing right in front of me, his shoes kissing the front of my heels and I had to strain my neck to match his eye level. " What you did today, was such a childish thing to do. Only weak people do that. "
His black orbs looked down at me, suddenly appeared too close to be comfortable but I didn't budge. "You only confirmed my assumption from before that you are nothing but a weak pathetic disguise for an enemy." My blood was boiling but the red in his eyes was telling me I was not the only one hurting.
The click of his jaw and the nonchalant yet calculated shrug of his shoulder made me narrow my eyes. " May be that's why, I am not afraid of you because I know that you would do nothing but beat around the bush. You won't really attack me. " My nails dig in my own palm by the force I was curling my fists. His warm sharp breath hit my face as he was practically hovering over me by this time.
