"I don't understand, how the hell could she just go back to normal overnight?" Soojin spoke to the Techs at the next morning maintenance check up. She came in with the guards, ready to have them hold her down just like the last morning, but now the Techs are telling her that Yeji was suddenly functioning by her algorithm again, she wasn't showing any signs of consciousness or even having any thoughts.
"I'm not sure, we worked on reprogramming her and overriding her all day yesterday, I guess it worked. But we did order new charging chords because neither of them charged all the way last night even though they were plugged in all night. You know, with the override working on Yeji... Maybe we could bring back L1A and—" Tech Y began, but she stopped herself when she sensed the disapproval from Soojin on that id3a.
The manager walked up to the redhead that laid on the metal table next to her partner. Staring deep into those eyes for any emotion, she didn't think she saw anything. These bots are so damn realistic it's hard to tell.
"Check up complete, systems are at 100% functionality." The Techs announced, working around Soojin to unplug the bots from the computer.
Soojin didn't believe that the programming worked. This bot was completely rapid yesterday morning, and now, just 24 hours later she's back to normal? Soojin calls bul1shit.
As the redhead sat up in sync with her dark haired partner, Soojin stood in front of her, having to look up quite a lot because of how tall Yeji is. Even sitting on the table, she's taller than Soojin.
The Techs were about to lead the redhead off the table to get her dressed for the day's press, but Soojin held her hand up to stop them. She glared at this bot, thinking that maybe she's faking for the sake of survival.
Her mind drifted to a couple nights ago, when she suddenly grabbed her hair to turn her off, the bot winced. So Soojin roughly grabbed the bot's hair and pulled, but she got no reaction. Yeji's face was still, eyes stale.
"Manager-nim!" The Techs went, not wanting Soojin to damag3 anything on the priceless piece of tech.
Soojin scoffed, either the bot is great at pretending or she's really back to normal. She looked at the Techs with a smile, "Sorry," She apologized for yanking the bot's hair.
As she gently fixed it, putting it in a middle part, her smile slowly dropped as she felt how soft it was... Ryvj1n's hair has a slightly artificial feeling, this bot's hair is silky like that of a human.
She looked up at the bot's eyes before leaning forward to talk into her ear. "If you're pretending, I'll find out one way or another." She whispered, putting her hand on the bot's cheek so she could bring her head closer to her ear.
God, this bot's skin is fucking weird. It's s0ft and flesh-like.
The manager pulled away, feeling the orange hair again because she was still stunned at how healthy it felt in her human hands.
"I'm sorry, I don't understand. Please try a different command, or try rewording it with terms I am familiar with." Yeji spoke, her voice is lifeless.
Soojin sighed with a smirk and turned to leave the room. "Get them both ready, they have several interviews today."
And as much as Soojin wanted to doubt Yeji's authenticity, she couldn't catch any slip ups all day long from the redheaded bot. Even in the interviews, she answered perfectly and her commands all went through smoothly.
It led her to wanting to know how exactly Yeji felt so different from all of the other bots. She almost felt human.
The Techs did confirm to her that when a bot gains consciousness it changes them. So even though Yeji is back to normal, the effects of consciousness remain on her body.
