I Love You, too

"It's okay," the brunette murmured as he ran his fingers through Draco's silky hair. They were in the sitting room of Malfoy Manor, with Harry sitting on the far end of the couch and Draco laying on top of it, his head in Harry's lap. The blonde had been working on heartbreak potions for months on end, only taking a break to eat or sleep and nothing else, but he still couldn't quite get the potion to work no matter how many times he tweaked the components.

"These things take time," Harry continued with a comforting tone. He had been doing that a lot lately, whenever Draco would come home telling him about yet another heartbreak patient that took the potion and was unaffected by it. He was at the end of his rope and could barely handle it whenever Fleur informed him about another failure. It got to the point where, a week earlier, he had told her only to tell him if the potions had worked, not if they didn't. That was the last he had heard from her. Everyday, he would make another batch, and everyday, Fleur would tell him nothing of the results, meaning they were negative.

Draco was especially upset that day because he thought he had figured it out, thought that he had finally cracked the code and would get the potion to work. An old book from the book room in Malfoy Manor confirmed his suspicions that any simulation potion wouldn't work without a component containing the event that is meant to be simulated. The blonde had immediately cut off a chuck of his hair to use within the potion, thinking that, as a cured heartbroken veela, DNA from him would help perfect the simulation. Still, 24 hours had passed and Fleur had said nothing.

"Thank you, love. I don't know what I would do without you," the blonde murmured and closed his eyes, comforted by his mate's presence and reassurance. Harry chuckled a bit at that.

"I'm not doing anything, really. I wish I knew more about potions so I could help you," the brunette said, continuing to stroke Draco's hair. The blonde sighed, thinking Harry was insane for wanting to do anything more.

Just having you here makes everything a thousand times better.

Draco's eyes snapped open at the thought, then he sat up abruptly, startling Harry, who tilted his head in confusion. Immediately, the blonde ran to his bag, took out his scissors, and used them to cut off a small amount of Harry's hair.

"Wh-what are you doing?" the brunette asked with a perplexed expression.

"It's not my hair. It's not my condition that needs to be simulated. It's yours. They don't need there to be a cured veela around them. They need to feel that there's a loving mate there for them. Simulating you would make the potion work. I'm sure of it. This is it. This is what they need," the blonde ranted as he tossed a bunch of components into a pot, all of which he had pulled out of his potions bag.

Harry watched the blonde's actions, still confused, but didn't have time to respond before Draco was done with the potion, apparating out of the sitting room, and saying, "Wish me luck."

"How do you feel?" Fleur asked gently after Daniel, a heartbroken veela, had taken the potion. Draco usually wasn't there for this part of the treatment, but he had a great feeling about this potion. He was almost sure that it would work and he wanted to be there when it did. Sure enough, a slight smile spread across Daniel's face as he answered, seemingly shocked by his own words.

"I feel...not bad," he started, his eyes wide as he looked at Fleur, "I don't miss her anymore. I-I feel whole."

Draco didn't even try to hold back his tears, letting them gush out of his eyes quicker than they ever had before. He couldn't believe it. He had done it. He had cured heartbreak once and for all. Yes, there was room for improvement. The blonde didn't just want the heartbroken veelas cured; he wanted them to have the freedom to choose their own mates, and he wanted the mates that rejected them to be punished.

One step at a time.

The blonde was snapped out of his thoughts when Daniel suddenly got up and hugged him tightly, crying into his shoulder, saying, "Thank you, Healer Malfoy. Thank you so much."

"Oh, I'm no healer, yet. I just got admitted into medical school a month ago, but you're very welcome," the blonde replied, hugging the man back. He cast a glance at Fleur, who was happier than he had ever seen her, and he couldn't help but be proud of himself for putting that smile on her face. She had saved his life, and, although he could never repay her for her kindness, he was able to take away her pain from seeing her patients die, and that was the only thing he could do that came close to thanking her properly.

After explaining the process to Fleur, Draco apparated home with a huge smile on his face, eager to see his mate who had made this all possible. Harry's love had saved Draco, and it was about to save hundreds of heartbroken veelas. The blonde didn't think he could possibly love Harry more than in that moment, when he threw himself at the brunette, laying on top of him in their bed, and kissing him so passionately, they were both out of breath when they pulled back.

"Woah, what's this all about?" Harry asked after a few seconds of both of them panting, his cheeks coated in red. Draco smiled at him.

"It worked. The potion worked all thanks to you," the blonde replied, earning him a grin from Harry, whose eyes lit up at the news.

"I want to bond with you, properly," the blonde said before Harry could speak. He didn't want to lose his nerve and chicken out. He wanted this more than anything, had been wanting it for a while now, but was too afraid of his veela side resurfacing. He wasn't anymore. He would embrace the veela, the part of him that led Draco to the best thing that has ever happened to him, his Harry.

"Are you sure?" the brunette asked breathlessly, "What happened to waiting for marriage?"

Draco laughed and rolled his eyes at that, saying, "Bonding is how veelas marry their mates. We can also have a normal wedding, but bonding is what truly bonds us for life, and I know it's a lot to think about, but I want-"

"I want it, too," the brunette said, interrupting the blonde before flipping them over so he was on top. He smiled down at his perfect Draco before crashing their lips together once more.

After an hour of raw, passionate love-making, the veela and his mate laid in each other's arms, Harry absentmindedly playing with the feathers on Draco's newly-formed wings.

"I love you," the brunette murmured, giving the blonde the most loving expression Draco had ever seen.

"I love you, too, my mate," the blonde answered, a smile spreading across his face.
