The brunette arrived at the cafe ten minutes early, deciding that he needed time to calm himself down. It was technically their first date if he didn't count the ones where Draco had HeartBreak or when the veela had taken over. He didn't know how to act around the blonde once he saw him and was worried he'd do or say something stupid that would ruin everything. He didn't know how sensitive Draco was or anything about how the blonde was feeling. He just knew that Draco wanted to see him, and he wanted to see Draco.
He sat with his back facing the door, because he thought it would be awkward to catch and keep Draco's eye as the blonde walked from the door all the way to the table...but the table wasn't that far away from the door. Was Harry overthinking it? Probably. What if Draco wanted to sit with his back to the door? Oh, Merlin, maybe the brunette should move...
"Harry?"
The brunette jumped when he heard Draco's voice call his name. The blonde was sitting across from him. When the hell did that happen? Was he that absorbed in his thoughts?
"Er...hi, Lo-Draco. You look good, great. I-I mean, well. You look so well. I was worried that you'd be a zombie since you don't seem to see other people a lot, and Emmyl said you hadn't been sleeping properly...which I wasn't supposed to tell you. Right. Anyway, I am glad that you look good, not that I'd care if you looked bad, but-"
Harry stopped talking when a wide smile appeared on Draco's face and the blonde reached out and held Harry's right hand on the table.
"I've missed your rambling," the blonde said, laughing a bit. Harry blushed slightly, but smiled at how easy it was to be himself when he was around Draco.
"I practiced keeping it short all morning," the brunette said, looking into Draco's beautiful, silver eyes, then shrugging, "I guess it didn't work."
"I'm glad it didn't," the blonde teased, "You know how curious I am. I like to know everything that's going on in your head."
"Really?" Harry asked breathlessly, silently asking permission to discuss the blonde's illness. The brunette didn't think he'd get a chance this quickly; he thought it would be awkward for at least fifteen minutes, but it was like they had never even been apart.
"Well, I can save you the trouble," the blonde suggested, before averting Harry's gaze and continuing a bit more quietly, "I'm ashamed of myself for what I said to you, Harry. I'm so sorry. I didn't even think you'd return my first letter, but I'm so glad you did, because I truly didn't want us to be over, not when we never had a chance. I owe you so many explanations, I don't even know where to start. I-"
"I forgive you, and we don't need to talk about this now," the brunette said, cutting the blonde off. Draco's hand had started shaking a bit in Harry's own. The brunette didn't want the blonde to push himself to speak if he didn't feel like it. Draco had been through a lot...they both had, and, even if Harry was bursting with questions, they deserved at least one date where neither of them cried.
The blonde smiled gratefully, looking relieved, upon hearing Harry's reassurance.
"Alright, I suppose we can act like a normal couple for the evening," the blonde said, picking up a menu, "What cliche thing do you want to do? Share a spaghetti dish and suck on the same one until our lips meet or have one of us fake a heart attack so we could leave without paying?"
"Couples don't do that," the brunette said as he laughed at the serious tone Draco was using. The blonde raised an eyebrow at him.
"Yes, spaghetti sharing is very unhygienic, but I'm telling you it's very common," the blonde said with an equally serious tone which turned into a chuckle at the end.
