Ariana's New York Studio
Ariana's POV
I'm fuming right now. I had this planned out. I was about to tell Y/n how I felt, and then I was going to end it with Ethan, no matter the outcome of my conversation with Y/n. Of course, Ethan shows up unannounced just as I was about to spill my heart. I felt so bad; I could tell Y/n was annoyed. I pulled Ethan into the other room to talk to him, and obviously, we argued. Then he pulled me into an awkward hug. I told him I'm staying at my penthouse tonight and that we would talk more later.
Ethan left upset, and I just leaned back against the wall and sighed. When I came back out, Y/n was gone. I felt a pang in my chest. I looked throughout the studio, thinking maybe she went to the restroom, but she wasn't here. Her stuff and shoes were gone. Oh my god, I thought to myself. I reached for my phone and saw no messages from her. I quickly texted her:
Me: Y/n, where did you go? I'm so sorry about that. I didn't know he was coming. I really still want to talk to you.
I sat there biting my lip, waiting to see the little bubbles appear, but they never did. My mind started to race again. Was she mad? Is she ignoring me? I know how much she hates being in awkward situations. Fuck, Ari, I mumbled to myself. I texted her again:
Me: Y/n? Please text me back.
Still nothing. No bubbles, nothing. No text from her. It wasn't even saying she read my messages. I plopped down on the couch and just started to cry. Same old Ariana, always so emotional about everything. I felt my phone vibrate and quickly looked, hoping it was her texting back. But it was just Courtney:
Court❤️: Hey bitch, you still in the studio? I'm here and I brought wine. 😊
I looked up and saw her standing there. Her smile faded when she saw me sitting on the couch crying. "Ari? What's wrong, babe?" she said as she rushed over to me. I sat there and told her everything that had just happened. Courtney's mouth was wide open.
"You were finally going to tell her how you felt?" she asked me with a smile. "And did you break up with Ethan just now?" she added with a hopeful look.
I sighed and leaned back onto the couch. "No, I don't want to do it here. I was going to do it somewhere more private, you know."
Courtney nodded, understanding. "That makes sense. It's a big conversation, and it deserves the right setting."
"Exactly. I just didn't want to end things with him in the middle of all this chaos," I explained, feeling even more frustrated.
"Hey, it's going to be okay," Courtney said softly, squeezing my hand. "We'll figure this out. But first, let's get some wine in you and take a deep breath."
I managed a small smile. "Thanks, Court. I really needed that."
We poured ourselves some wine and sat there, talking and trying to relax. Courtney listened as I vented my frustrations and fears, offering support and reassurance. It felt good to have her there, to not feel so alone in all of this.
After a while, I picked up my phone again, still hoping for a message from Y/n. Nothing. I sighed, trying not to let it get to me.
"She'll come around, Ari," Courtney said, reading my expression. "Just give her some time."
"I hope so," I replied, taking another sip of wine. "I really hope so."
As the evening wore on, we continued to talk, laugh, and try to distract ourselves from the chaos of the day. Despite everything, I felt a little bit of hope starting to creep back in. I just had to trust that things would work out the way they were meant to.
