Y/n's POV

I walked to the study with Ariana following behind me, her eyes taking in everything as we entered the room. I gestured to the couch. "Have a seat. Do you want anything to drink or eat?" I asked her.

She sat nervously on the couch, her hands on her lap. She shook her head. "No, thank you," she said softly.

I sighed and sat across from her. "Okay, so let's talk. Why have you ghosted me for a month, Ari?" I asked, my tone a mix of curiosity and frustration.

She looked down at her hands, took a deep breath, and finally spoke. "I know I owe you an explanation. The truth is, I was overwhelmed. Breaking up with Ethan was way harder than I anticipated, and he didn't take it well at all. When I told him about us, he called me all sorts of names and said some really hurtful things. It messed with my head, and I couldn't figure out how to deal with my feelings for you on top of everything else. Every time I tried to reach out to you, I'd panic and shut down. It wasn't fair to you, and I'm really sorry."

I leaned back in my chair, trying to keep my emotions in check. "You could have told me that. You could have reached out instead of leaving me in the dark."

She nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I know, and I'm so sorry for that. I was scared, and I didn't know how to handle it. But being away from you made me realize how much I care about you and how much I regret not talking to you sooner."

I crossed my arms, thinking over her words. "And Ethan? What about him? People saw you with him after you said it was over."

She winced at the mention of Ethan. "That was a mistake. He followed me to Starbucks, saying he wanted to talk and apologize. I thought I owed him that, and he did owe me an apology for the awful things he said. But it only made things more complicated. It's truly over between us now. I haven't been in contact with him since."

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Ariana, I need to know that you're serious. That this isn't just another moment of confusion for you."

She looked up at me, her expression earnest. "I am serious. I came all the way here to see you, to try and make things right. I know I have a lot to prove, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes. Please, just give me a chance."

There was a long silence as I weighed her words, feeling the tension between us. "It's going to take time to rebuild trust, Ari. I'm willing to give it a shot, but you have to understand that things can't just go back to how they were overnight."

"I understand," she said quickly, nodding. "I'm ready to take things slow and do whatever it takes to make it right."

"Alright," I said finally. "We'll take it one step at a time. But if I sense any more games or dishonesty, I'm done."
