I sighed as I leaned back in my chair and rubbed my temples. I really hate arguing with older stubborn men, especially over phone conferences. Some still don't like the fact that I'm the CEO of the company, while others have finally accepted it. But sometimes, I have to remind them who's in charge.
"Hey, boss," Tess walked in. She's my new assistant, hired just a couple of weeks ago. "Maddox said when you're free, head to his office," she told me with a smile.
"Okay, cool. Thanks, Tess," I replied.
Tess is a bit different. Some of the older, perverted men who come here for meetings have asked why I didn't hire a younger, more provocative assistant. Basically asking why I didn't hire a slutty assistant. Their comments made me cringe, and I almost slapped the shit out of them.
Tess is more of a masculine lesbian, standing at about 5'9". She has short, curly brown hair with taper fades, and many of the other girls in the office, including Melina, the coffee girl, are crushing on her. Tess is a perfect fit here; she meshes well with the team and is really good at being my assistant. She had no problem signing an NDA when she was hired.
However, she did come into the office the day after Ariana was here and teased me a bit about it. Tess was a little starstruck; Ariana told me about how she made her cup of pens fall everywhere. So, naturally, I teased Tess back about that.
Speaking of Ariana, it's been almost two weeks since meeting her family. I've been trying to keep my distance from her. We still text a lot and ask each other about our days. She tries to set up lunch dates or simply hang out, but I'm trying to avoid that. She's in a relationship, and while the little flirting we do is good for me, I can't ignore the fact that we almost kissed that night if her phone hadn't rung. Maddox swears that Ariana likes me, but he's forgetting about the whole boyfriend situation she has.

Someone clearing their throat breaks me from my thoughts. I look up and see Maddox standing at my door with his hands in his pockets, playfully glaring at me. I admire his newest dark blue suit and notice his blonde shoulder-length hair is halfway pulled back today.
