Conference roomY/n's POV
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. It's only 12pm, and I'm already stressed out. Ariana left two days ago for the Olympics and the launch of her makeup brand R.E.M in Paris. She wasn't thrilled when I told her I couldn't go because of all the meetings I have this week. So here I am, stuck dealing with these stubborn old guys while getting mixed messages from Ari. One minute she's sending me nudes, and the next, she's pissed that I'm not there. Although I haven't heard from her in a while now.
I hear one of the older men arguing with Lily, and I notice Tess gripping her iPad in the corner of my eye. I slam my hands on the table, making everyone flinch. I clear my throat, stand up, and straighten my suit. I point at the older man, watching him gulp as he stares back at me.
"I've had enough of your shit," I say sternly. Before he can respond, I keep going. "You forget who runs this company and signs your checks. I'm sick of you acting like you run this place. The way you talk to the women here is borderline harassment, and I'm done with it. You will not speak to her that way again. You're fired. Get up and pack your shit."
The room gasps, and I see Tess smirking as she calls someone, probably security. Ronald, the older man, looks at me, confused and shocked. "Wait... you can't fire me. I'm part of the board," he snaps. I smile. "Was. Key word: was." I step closer to him. "You're forgetting where I came from before I took over this company. You have five minutes to leave this room," I say through gritted teeth. "You'll be hearing from my lawyers," he says, quickly standing up. I chuckle, "You mean former lawyers. You might want to look for new ones." He scoffs and hurries out of the office.
I cleared my throat and looked at the others sitting there with their mouths open, some even smiling. "Does anyone else have an issue with women running this company? If so, get the fuck out. I will not tolerate homophobia or discrimination," I stated firmly. The others shook their heads no, and I smiled. "Good. Meeting's over." I walked out of the office, heading to mine, with Tess following behind me.
"Holy shit, Macky, that was scary but badass," she said as we walked, all eyes on us. "We need to set up another interview for a new board member. Send me some files," I said as we approached my office door. Lily ran up to me, smiling. "Thanks, boss. Really, thank you."
"If anyone speaks to you disrespectfully, come to me immediately," I told her. She nodded with a smile. "That goes for you too, Tess," I added. "Copy that, boss," Tess smiled.
All three of us walked into my office, with Tess reading aloud the agenda for the next meetings. Meanwhile, I was looking at my phone, nervous to open the latest message from Ari. I wasn't sure if I could handle her sass at the moment. Tess stopped mid-sentence, and I looked up to see them both smiling. Confused, I turned around and saw my girlfriend sitting at my desk, smiling at me.
