****GRACES POV***"So how did it go with the professor?" Asked Gio "She just told me I'm failing her class" I said Gio shrugged "Yeah I seen that coming" he said grabbing his cup and taking a sip from it as we both sat at a table in the cafeteria eating lunch. "What do you mean by that?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him "I mean schools never been your thing, you've been like that since the Academy, plus on top of that your a last minute person you do not do the work till the very last minute possible then you'd rush it so obviously you'd mess up" he said.
"Ok that may be true sometimes but this time I even studied she must've read something wrong, I can't fail you know how my grandfather is he'll blow a fuse" I said leaning back in my chair with a sigh.
The only reason I'm attending this university is because my grandfather and father both intend to have me take over the family company when the time comes that they can no longer run it. The only reason I'm even next in line is because I have no siblings.
In a normal case usually the first born boy takes over the family business and I would've been free to do whatever I want with the money I get just from being born a Saintclair but unfortunately after I was born my father found out he can't have any more children but luckily for him I was born intersex so I'm the closest thing they have to a son even though I'm a girl.
To take over the company I must have a degree in business management in which is my major and happens to be to be the class I'm failing.
Gio sighed "If you truly did study this time and do the work on time why don't you just put aside that pride of yours and beg miss smith to do you a solid" said Gio I twisted my face in disgust at the thought of doing something like that.
"I'd rather die" I said and he chuckled "I knew you'd say that honestly I don't understand your beef with the woman she's pretty chill to me" he said with a shrug.
"She obviously hates me" I said "And you her?" Asked Gio "Of course she's insufferable and oh don't get me started on how she's always glaring at me as if I had pisssed in her cereal, I swear the woman's miserable and needs to get laid or some-" I said but stopped when I seen a stunned look on Gio's face as he looked up at someone.
I sighed knowing how this always goes in the movies and cartoons. I slowly looked up to see miss Smith standing there with a package of work with my name on it.
"Miss.....smith?!" I said shocked as I looked up at her not so happy face, that I could tell even under her cold blank expression. Her eyes met mine for a split second. Gio cleared his throat gaining her attention "D-Did you need something miss smith?" asked Gio she looked back over at me momentarily before answering him "No, I was just passing by excuse me" she said with a glare my way before she walked away.
Gio sighed a breath of relief as he looked up at me "You think she heard you?" Asked Gio
I sighed as well "I know she did" I said "Welp
Your already failing so it's not like she can do anything worse to you" said Gio "If only that was true I just saw her holding a package of makeup work for me" I said running a hand down my face "I guess she took pity on you" said Gio "Yeah but now it's most certainly gone.....I screwed up"After classes I made my way back home where I was surprised to see my mother father and grandfather all sitting in the living whispering about something.
"Well this is new I didn't think you'd all be home at this time" I said walking into the living room, as soon as I did so the whispering stopped immediately causing me to look around at everyone in confusion.
Just then my father cleared his throat "Grace dear come and take a seat there's something important we must discuss" he said I glanced over at my mother and grandfather and saw they had serious looks on their faces much like the one my father was wearing. I walked over and took a seat in a chair across from them, "So what's this all about I asked?" Please don't tell me miss smith called them about my grade in her class.
"We're hosting a dinner party here tomorrow night" said my father I shrugged "Okay? Have fun I guess, I'll stay over Gios and-" I said but was cut off by my father speaking again "You won't be able to do that you must be in attendance as well" said my father, they know I'm not a fan of dinner parties because they created opportunities for older people to pester you about things like marriage or babies even getting a job and I don't plan on doing any of that.
"But why? Any other time when you guys are hosting a gathering you allow me to go over Gios" I said truly confused as to why they want me there so bad.
"It's a dinner with the Anderson family and ours everyone from each family must be in attendance" said my grandfather
"The Andersons?, I thought you hated them?" I said.
"I do but this dinner party may change that, we're all going to sit down and talk about merging our two families" he said.
Merging the two families?, he must be talking about a business deal. I sighed and looked up at them I guess there's no getting out of this "Fine" I said "Then it's settled, oh and please put on a suit I don't want to see you in a dress tonight it's inappropriate" said my grandfather before standing up and signaling for his bodyguard to follow him out of the house.
I sighed my grandfather had been trying to force me to dress and act more like a guy every since I was old enough to talk and walk. I've expressed to him many times that I am a woman but it's like he refuses to hear it and I believe that's because he wanted a boy when my father and mother found out they were pregnant but unfortunately when I turned out to be an intersex female he was pretty pissed.
It's gotten better then how it use to be though, at first he hated for me to even say the word intersex around him and use to refer to me as it or the he/she when I was younger.
But then he went from silently hating that I was intersex to outright trying to turn me completely male. The first thing he tried was to encourage my mother and father to change my name into a more "masculine" one as he said.
It's not like he doesn't love me or anything it's just that he can't come to terms with what I am and I've long learned to accept that and just deal with it.
I sighed "I'm sorry dear" my mother said to me apologizing for my grandfather once again like she always does I shrugged "It's fine" I said sadly her facial expression softened as she looked at me "if you want you can wear the dress I'll just tell your grandfather-" she said but I cut her off "It's fine mom I'll wear the suit it'll only cause problems if I fight him on this" I said standing up from my seat.
"I'm going to bed early don't wait up at dinner" I said before making my way out of the living room and up to my room.
Every time my grandfather says something like that it puts me in a rather dull mood. I took a long hot shower then made my way over to my bed not even bothering to put on clothes to sleep in. I pulled the covers over me and sighed, tomorrow nights going to be a disaster.
two families who's long hated each other in the same room together is cause for a blood bath.
Let's just hope it ends peacefully, I'm not really one for the drama.
