Landing back at their home base felt like a vacation in itself. Swinging down from the cockpit, Buck helps Y/N back onto her feet, stabilizing her from the long flight.
"Major and Y/N, welcome back", Crosby says, walking up to the pair.
"Crosby, they still got you at this dump", Buck laughs.
"Sure do."
Y/N jogs up to him, enveloping her friend in a hug to which he gladly returned.
"Major", Rosie says.
"Rosie", says Buck.
The chorus of voices welcoming Buck back made the girl smile. Though he wasn't as close to them as with Bucky, he knew almost everyone on base.
Rosie and Crosby walk with Buck and Y/N to their jeep.
She notices the places flying overhead, dropping what looked like packages on the field.
"What's this for?", Y/N asks.
"The Dutch are starving to death", Rosie begins explaining. "So the allies are dropping tons of food west and southwest of the Zuider Zee."
"Supposed to be a flak truce with the Germans", Crosby adds on. "So, no flaks or AA guns. So far, they have refused, but hell, we're flying anyway."
She nods and hops into the jeep, taking a seat in the back with the Major. They dropped Y/N off at her quarters first. Walking into her cabin, she takes a deep breath, soaking up the smell that became known as home. Placing her jacket on her coat rack, she jumps onto her bed, rolling over on her back to face the ceiling. There, was a carving Bucky made of his name after his first mission. He had gotten over-the-top drunk, and decided to give the girl a reminder that he'd always be there with her.
Smiling she wipes the tear rolling down her cheek and closes her eyes. Letting sleep take over her body.
She had slept through the night and into the next day when a knock was heard at her door. Not a nice one either. More so impatient. Standing up, she rubs her eyes and opens her door.
Standing on the other side of the door was none other than Major John 'Bucky' Egan.
"Oh my god, John!", she yelled out in surprise, jumping on him to give him a hug.
He caught her with ease as her legs wrapped around his waist, arms around his neck and his hands under her thighs.
"Oh you missed me that much did you?", he chuckles after she had moved her head away from his neck to look at him.
"Don't flatter yourself", she grins.
"Now, about that kiss you said you'd give me in Germany-", he tries saying with his signature smirk before being cutoff by Y/N interlocking their lips.
To say Bucky enjoyed the directness of her action was an understatement. He walked them both into her room, closing the door with his foot and pinning her against the wall. Breaking apart for air, they breathed heavily, looking at each other with so much passion neither of them uttered a word.
Bucky was the one to kiss her first this time around, squeezing harder on her thighs and slipping his tongue into her mouth. The kiss was sloppy, sure, but the amount of time he had been waiting for this moment, didn't affect the fact that it wasn't precise.
He moved his kisses down to her jawline and to her neck, smiling and memorizing all the noises of pleasure leaving Y/N's mouth. He could listen to them for hours, on repeat if he could.
He never left one area of her body untouched, just to show her how much he actually loved her. Moving her from the wall to the bed in a matter of seconds, with the desperation that man needed to be fulfilled from the girl he fell in love with the first day he had ever laid eyes on her.
That morning in Y/N L/N cabin would be a morning he would never forget. He would call it 'The perfect ending to a war'.
Authors Note: The next chapter is the last one, so I would just like to thank all of those who read this story. It's the first one I have completed and the support from you has really helped me continue it. I'll put a note at the bottom of the next chapter for any future books I am planning on writing and do not be scared to give any suggestions if you would like it for a specific endgame. Thank you again! xoxoxo
