Rose watched and started spying on Neryssa as Elijah had requested. She followed her, saw her at the school, and watched her as she went to the door of her family's house, walking with her books and backpack behind her with her keys in her hand. She went and opened the door. Rose saw as she sat in a car and observed from afar that she had a grandmother, a teenage brother, and a mother. So far she just saw them, just three people, she didn't see anyone else, but it didn't mean that there weren't any more people living in the house, or coming over to visit. She was still cautious, but got out and stood on a sidewalk, as she saw Neryssa and heard the other voices of her brother, grandmother, and brother in the house, as she listened with her ears and her eyes. She looked around but stared straight at the house knowing the address, the location.
The next day Rose showed up with the present that Elijah had picked and told to deliver to her. She rang the doorbell. And Neryssa immediately answered it and opened it.
"Hi." Rose said
"Hi."
"I don't mean to disturb you at this hour or to interrupt whatever you may be doing, but I believe you had came over a couple of times to my master's house, and on of those cases, he wasn't present. He did in fact receive your basket, and I was told to give you this in return."
Rose held out the small box that was wrapped neatly, and just like a present with a bow.
"Oh, hi, "Wow. That, is so thoughtful and kind of you to show up and to give me...."Uh..."
"Please, take it."
"okay."
"Is it alright, if I open it?"
"Please, he would like to know how you like it, and if it meets your satisfaction.
I didn't know, the female stranger had suddenly, shown up on my doorstep, but only for the reason she had told me. She seemed nice and kind. Dark brown hair cropped short in a bob. She wore jeans, boots, a long-sleeved shirt, and a leather jacket. She had on jewelry.
I smiled at her and opened the gift, but I immediately saw what it was and my own eyes couldn't even believe it. What I saw in the small black box, was what I knew I saw was a black jeweler's box was in fact. As I looked at her and lifted the lift of my fingers, opening it, only to see what consisted inside, for me to cover my mouth and look and only to stare at it, and then close the lid and then reopen it, so that my eyes couldn't tell me what was in there. I then, closed it now, having no intention to open it, as I stood there and looked up at her.
"I can't accept, something like this, it's too much, too..."
"Do you not like it?" Rose stared at her, hoping that the present didn't disappoint or that it had failed to do what it was supposed to, which was to make her like it and accept it. If the girl declined then surely Elijah would not be happy and upset.
"No, of course, I like it, it's..... beautiful. But, it looks expensive...." Rose looked at her looking at the gift as she opened it and saw red earrings, those that looked like rubies, shaped like teardrops.
"I assure you, it is."
"They're...." real?"
