"I see... So Yakushi got eliminated, huh." Kuramochi frowned, hearing the results of the game between Ichidai Sankou and Yakushi.
"Despite Yakushi's situation taking a turn for the worse due to Todoroki's fielding error... Sanada showed himself as Yakushi's true ace, leaving nothing to be desired till the bitter end." Watanabe said, informing the players about how the game went today. "That pitching duel was so close that it's anyone's guess which team would have won had the game gone into the extra inning. What's more, the last hit was to where they actually could've gotten the third out too."
"Well, we play against Norikane tomorrow. In the meantime, I will make another detailed analysis of the Sankou game, but... Even now it's clear that Amahisa, the way that he was today, was in a league of his own... The only hits he allowed were the two that Todoroki scored. And the new pitch that wasn't in the Repertoire in spring remained pretty much untouched." Watanabe finished.
"The new pitch?"
"Amahisa has a new pitch?"
"According to Okumura it's a two-seamer with gyro spin. It had less movement than his slider and is closer to a cutter."
"Hm?!" Sawamura suddenly became aware of what was happening. It was just like how Amahisa had told him through LINE.
"A two-seamer with gyro spin?" Miyuki asked, "Isn't that what's been dubbed 'slutter' lately?"
"Exactly..."
"Is he for real? We're talking about the cutting edge breaking ball that's said to be used by the top class pitchers in the majors there, for crying out loud." Miyuki smirked, both in excitement and in nervousness.
Slutter? Majors? Cutting edge? Sawamura started sweating anxiously.
"Sawmura, I hear you're in touch with Amahisa via LINE right? Did you guys talk about that pitch?" Watanabe asked innocently.
"Eh?" All the players in the room focused their attention on the new ace.
"What the hell?"
"Sawamura and Amahisa?"
"..."
"Wait, when did that even happen? And what kind of buddy-buddy combination is even that?"
"EEH?! IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS! I DIDN'T MEAN TO... WE'RE NOT EVEN TALKING ALL THAT OFTEN!!! IT'S JUST THAT HE WAS SO PERSISTENT BACK DURING THE SPRING TOURNAMENT THAT I KINDA HAD NO CHOICE..."
"Ah! So that's why you asked me about gyro," Miyuki realized what had happened during their practice this afternoon while the game between Yakushi and Ichidai was happening.
"So? Did that swollen-face tell you anything about his new pitch?" Kuramochi glared dangerously at Sawamura.
"What did he tell you?" Haruichi grinned evilly at his friend.
"NO, NO, NO, WAIT JUST A SECOND THERE! FIRST OF ALL, THAT'S JUST OUT OF QUESTIONS! IT'S A STRICTLY PERSONAL EXCHANGE, AND I CAN'T JUST RUN MY MOUTH TO RANDOM PEOPLE ABOUT ITS CONTENTS!!!" The ace defended himself. "EVEN IF HE'S MY OPPONENT, WE'RE STILL FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS! WE'VE GOT TO UPHOLD SOME BASIC HUMAN VALUES!"
"Oh, so we're just random people to you, huh..."
"How nice to know that..."
"Alright, I get it now. It's no use talking to you, so just gimme your cell phone! We'll pretend I went and stole a peek entirely without permission!" Kuramochi called.
"HEY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" Sawamura exclaimed, seeing the shortstop forcefully take his cell phone from him.
"HYAHAHAHA! What can I say, I am a bad guy! It's still your birthday, ey?"
