Mia opened the door and stepped inside. What she didn't expect was to find her mother, stood in the doorway of the living room. Arms folded across her chest.

"Where the hell have you been?"
"Nowhere" she answered.
"You were with those Knight kids again weren't you?" Mia didn't answer her mother, "You do not just run off like that Amelia! Not without telling me where you are going!"
"Well you're always too busy to notice me anyway. Not even dad wants to be here anymore"

"No. And that's because of you! You know, I want to run away all the time. But I can't. I stay and look after you. And this is how you repay me? Go to your room. I don't even want to see you"

The 8 year old did feel guilty and her mother's words upset her. She didn't utter a word until she got to her bedroom and buried herself in her blankets. Maybe it was her fault her dad wasn't around. Maybe she was just a selfish little girl.

...

The next morning Mia got up earlier than usual. It was Monday and she was, for once, excited to go to school. Usually the girl didn't care much for school, but it did get her out of the house for a few hours.

The best part about school was that she was with Reece. They went to an awful private school with stuck up kids and strict teachers. But it was okay. As long as she had Reece.

As she was walking down the halls, her name was called from behind. Quickly spinning around she smiles brightly at the two in front of her
"Reecey"

Mia wrapped her arms around the boy tightly, not knowing who needed it most.
"Hey Aut, are you okay?"
"Mhm" she smiles politely,
"Come on, let's get to class before Mr Richmond comes" Reece says.

Mr Richmond was the headmaster of the school. A terribly bland man. He did care for much. The three make their way to Autumn's classroom before finding the other.

...

"So what happened with your dad?" Mia asks as the three walk down the road. School had finished and the friends were on their way home.

"Nothing" the blond boy shrugs,
"Reecey come on" the boy looked over at his sister who was walking a few steps in front of them,
"Mum didn't even come home last night" he whispers so that his sister couldn't hear,
"I'm sorry Reecey. I'm sure she's fine though" Mia smiles, "hey, maybe she's with my dad. He didn't come home either"

"Why would they be together?"
"I don't know. I mean, they know each other? Anyway, are you aloud out today?"
"I don't know. Depends what mood dad is in. Parents suck" he huffs.
"I know. But hey, you got me" she playfully nudges the boy,
"Always and Forever"

"Come on guys!" Autumn shouts and the two run to catch up with her. Despite their home life, the three knew they would always have each other. Or would they?
