Our march was sped up exponentially but it was still a slow march since I do not want my feline-resembling companion vomiting onto the paint of the of Chaosbane. "Luuuuke. Luuuuuke. LUKE! Why are you marching so slowly. Uuuuuugggghhh. Can't you like run or something?" That cat-woman is ordering me around as if I am her servant! I would've simply left her there if I knew she would behave like this! If she wants it desperately then I might as welI do it. Besides, this could also serve as a moment of teaching for her. Alright, let's do a feat worthy of praise from the White Scars! A simple thought was then ushered to the machine-spirit of Chaosbane. It obeys without issue. The march goes from
a measly 20kph then it sped up to 30, 40, 60, 70,80, 90, 99, then finally 100kph and I wonder how she's faring. "Alice! Are you enjoying the ride so far!?" She responds with glee like a child experiencing Saguinalia for the first time over the rapid booms of footfalls. "HAHAHA! YES! WOOO!" Honestly, I think I should forget about trying to discipline her, joy and happiness is a rarity in the Imperium and I shall not take hers away. "LUKE! WATCH OUT! CREVICE!" She warns me of the big crevice that is up ahead as she strains her throat to yell as loud over the din. She also began to bang her hand onto the hatch noisily. *THUNK! THUNK! THUNK!* It doesn't look too wide, why not try jumping over it?
it? A notification pops up on the HUD with big, bold, and red lettering that warns me of the crevice that I continue to run headlong into. "WARNING! WARNIING! WARNING! DANGER AHEAD! 100 METERS! 50 METERS!" The harsh, emotionless, and ear-grating voice reads the warning out loud while also counting down the distance towards the crevice. "HOLD ON!" I yell it as loud as I can into the mic so that Alice would be able to hear it loud and clear through the com system. "0 METERS!" In a split second decision, the legs were posed, hydraulics compressing their fluids, servos were whirring, the reactor was roaring, the whole frame shook as the engine built up a massive stockpile of potential energy yearning to be released. Then... JUMP! My body was then put under a respectable amount of gravity that made me flat on the Throne Mechanicum as the legs finally released all of that energy. I saw the ground goíng further and further but then I sav the dark maw of the crevice almost fill up the entirety of the display. I cannot turn back now, I can only hope that we make it to the other side. Everything began to move so slowly. Alice is panicking in the background. "LLLUUUKKKEEE!!!" But I paid no mind to it as I concentrated on ensuring we both reach
the other side. I can feel the large metaillic legs of Chaosbane paddle uselessly in the air as I try to find purchase. I see land again! I breath a sigh of relief from a breathe that was unknowingly held. A different kind of warning popped up this time as it was also said by the same monotone voice. "COLLISION ALARM!" I yell with with desperately into the vox caster woth worry for my companion who is most likely holding one for dear life. "BRACE FOR IMPACT!" Ah. *BOOOOOMMMM!* Did we made it? Am I even alive? I can't see anything. Maybe it was all a dream conjured up by my brain and I am still on the battlefield as my mind began to conjure up wild scenarios in its death throes. "LUKE!" Or not.
I opened my eyes that was glued shut with fear and saw nothíng but dust. The ground then began to shake like an earthquake was on its way to ruin my short-lived victory. But I will ensure that I remain victorious. The Knight began to rapidly and uncontrollably
sway side-to-side like a guardsman who've drank a inhumane amount of amasec. The fact the ground is shaking along with my close proximity to lips of the crevice means that I will most likely fall to my death if I don't move, fast! *KRKRKRKRKRKRKRKR* That noise is a very good incentive and I do not need anything else to prompt me to move. *WHIR! BOOM! WHIR! BOOM! WHIR! BOOM!* Move your legs! Every part and piece of the ancient machine gave it their all to ensure the survival of us two. And for that I thank them all. I focused on the footsteps with all my brain power since this shall lead to my salvation. One footstep, two footsteps, three footsteps. Suddenly, I see a ray of sunshine, then another, and soon I felt the warm rays of light grace me as I emerge victorious and absolutely alive fron the dust cloud. There was not another moment in my life where I so desperately wanted to see the sun again.
