DAYVON BENNETT
| VON |
ATLANTA, GA📍

Von's house was quiet, a stark contrast to the chaos of the past few days. Dess sat on the couch, her nerves still frayed but slowly calming in the familiar surroundings. She glanced around the living room, taking in the framed photos and the little details that made this place Von's.

Von walked in from the kitchen, two steaming mugs in hand. He handed one to Dess and sat down beside her, his Chicago accent adding a comforting rhythm to his words. "Here, mama. Got you some tea. Thought it might help you relax."

Dess smiled, grateful for his thoughtfulness. "Thanks, Von." She took a sip, the warmth spreading through her, easing some of the tension.

Von leaned back, his arm draped over the back of the couch. "I know it's been rough lately, but I'm glad we got some time together. Just you and me."

Dess nodded, feeling the weight of the past few days lifting just a bit. "Yeah, it's nice to have a moment to breathe."

Von reached over and took her hand, his touch gentle. "You know I'm always here for you, right? No matter what happens, I got you."

"I know," Dess replied, squeezing his hand. "I'm just... I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything. It's been so crazy."

Von nodded, his expression serious. "I get it. But we gonna get through this. Together."

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, sipping their tea. The quiet moments were rare but precious, giving them a chance to reconnect and find some peace amidst the turmoil.

After finishing their tea, Von stood up and stretched. "How 'bout we make some dinner? I'm thinkin' we could whip up somethin' good and just chill for the night."

Dess smiled, feeling a bit more relaxed. "That sounds nice. What do you have in mind?"

Von grinned, his eyes lighting up. "I was thinkin' spaghetti. Easy to make and always hits the spot."

"Spaghetti it is," Dess agreed, getting up and following him to the kitchen.

They worked together, chopping vegetables and preparing the sauce. Von's playful banter and jokes lightened the mood, making Dess laugh despite everything that had happened.

"See, I ain't just good at handling business. I can cook, too," Von said, winking at her as he stirred the sauce.

Dess giggled, shaking her head. "You're full of surprises, aren't you?"

"Always gotta keep you on your toes," Von replied with a chuckle.

As they finished cooking and sat down to eat, the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. They talked about everything and nothing, enjoying each other's company and the simple pleasure of a homemade meal.

After dinner, they settled on the couch to watch a movie. Von picked out an action flick, and they snuggled up under a blanket, the familiar sounds of explosions and car chases filling the room.

Halfway through the movie, Von turned to Dess, his expression softening. "I know I've said it before, but I'm real sorry for how I acted. I let my anger get the best of me, and that ain't right."

Dess looked at him, her heart aching at the sincerity in his eyes. "I know, Von. And I appreciate you apologizing. We just... we gotta work through this together."

Von nodded, his grip tightening on her hand. "We will. I ain't lettin' nobody come between us. Not Deshawn, not nobody."

They watched the rest of the movie in a comfortable silence, Von's arm wrapped around Dess, holding her close. She felt safe with him, despite everything that had happened. His presence was a reassuring constant in the storm of her life.

As the credits rolled, Von turned to her, a playful glint in his eye. "You ready for dessert?"

Dess raised an eyebrow, a smile tugging at her lips. "What kind of dessert?"

Von grinned, leaning in to kiss her softly. "The best kind."

Dess laughed, feeling a warmth spread through her. "You're impossible, you know that?"

"Only for you," Von replied, his voice softening. He kissed her again, this time more deeply, and Dess felt herself melting into him.

They spent the rest of the night wrapped up in each other, the outside world and its problems fading away. In Von's arms, Dess found a moment of peace, a safe haven where she could forget her fears and just be.

As they lay together, Dess knew that their path wouldn't be easy. But with Von by her side, she felt a strength she hadn't known before. Together, they could face whatever challenges came their way.

And for now, that was enough.
