Two weeks earlier, the restaurant buzzed with lively chatter and the clinking of cutlery against plates. Dess, Jayda, and Chalynn had met up for a much-needed girls' night out, eager to catch up and enjoy each other's company. Laughter filled the air as they reminisced about old times, their bond feeling unbreakable.

"Girl, I gotta use the bathroom," Dess said, pushing her chair back and standing up.

"Me too," Chalynn agreed, following suit.

As Dess and Chalynn made their way to the restroom, Jayda sat back, a small, almost imperceptible smile playing on her lips. She glanced around the restaurant, ensuring no one was watching, and then reached for Dess's phone lying on the table. Quickly, she unlocked it using the password she had seen Dess enter countless times before.

Her fingers flew over the screen, planting fake messages that made it look like Dess had been in contact with Deshawn. Jayda knew exactly how to make the messages look convincing, detailing secret meetups and expressing longing. She felt a pang of guilt but quickly pushed it aside, reminding herself why she was doing this. Deshawn had promised her something she couldn't resist if she helped him find Dess.

With the messages planted, Jayda locked the phone and placed it back exactly where it had been. She took a deep breath, calming her racing heart, and took a sip of her drink just as Dess and Chalynn returned.

"What did we miss?" Dess asked, smiling as she sat back down.

"Nothing much," Jayda replied smoothly. "Just scrolled through some Instagram while you guys were gone."

They continued their evening, chatting and laughing, completely oblivious to the storm brewing just beneath the surface. Jayda played her part well, her outward demeanor calm and friendly, masking the turmoil of her inner thoughts.

As the night wore on, Jayda couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding. She knew the plan she had set into motion was dangerous, but she couldn't turn back now. Deshawn had been clear in his threats, and the promises he made were too tempting to ignore.
