DESTINY MARIE WILLIAMS | DESS | ATLANTA, GA📍
Dess's hands still shook as she read the note again, the words burning into her mind. She looked up at Von, who was already fuming with anger and determination.
"We ain't runnin'," Von said, his Chicago accent sharp. "We goin' outta town, but we ain't runnin'. We need some time to figure this out, get a plan."
Dess nodded, the fear gripping her heart loosening slightly with Von's presence. "I know. But it's just... he's always been so relentless. I don't know what he'll do."
Von wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "Listen, Dess. I ain't gonna let him get to you. We'll go somewhere safe, lay low, and figure out our next move. We ain't alone in this. You got me, and I ain't backin' down."
She drew strength from his words, nodding again. "Okay. Where will we go?"
Von thought for a moment. "I got a cousin out in Hampton , Georgia . It's quiet, off the radar. We can head there, regroup, and decide what to do next."
Dess agreed, feeling a sense of relief. They packed their bags quickly, taking only what they needed. Von's cousin, Kayla, had always been reliable and kept to herself. It seemed like the perfect place to hide while they figured out their next steps.
As they drove, Dess couldn't help but glance in the rearview mirror, half-expecting Deshawn to be following them. But the road behind them remained empty, the miles stretching out in a reassuring silence.
Von reached over, taking her hand in his. "We got this, baby. Just a lil' detour. We'll be back before you know it, ready to face this head-on."
Dess squeezed his hand, grateful for his unwavering support. "Thank you, Von. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"You ain't never gonna have to find out," he replied, his voice firm.
They arrived at Kaylas's place later that evening. It was a small, cozy house on the outskirts of town, surrounded by trees and far from prying eyes. Kayla greeted them at the door, a knowing look in her eyes as Von explained the situation.
"You safe here, cousin," Kayla assured them. "Ain't nobody findin' you unless you want 'em to."
Over the next few days, Dess and Von settled into the quiet routine at Kayla's house. They spent their days talking, planning, and preparing for the confrontation that seemed inevitable. Dess found comfort in Von's presence, his determination giving her the strength she needed.
One evening, as they sat on the porch, Dess turned to Von. "What if Deshawn doesn't stop? What if he keeps coming after us?"
Von looked at her, his expression serious. "Then we take the fight to him. We ain't gonna live in fear, Dess. We'll do whatever it takes to protect what we got."
Dess nodded, a sense of resolve settling in her chest. She knew Von was right. They couldn't keep running. They had to stand their ground and face Deshawn once and for all.

DAYVON BENNETT | VON| HAMPTON , GA 📍
Dess sat on the edge of the couch at Kayla's house, her nerves on edge. Von was pacing back and forth, phone pressed to his ear as he tried to get information from Durk. The tension in the room was thick, the uncertainty of their situation weighing heavily on both of them.
Von's voice was urgent and laced with his Chicago accent. "Yo, Durk, I need ya to come through with some info, man. This Deshawn dude, he's still a problem. You hear anythin' 'bout his whereabouts?"
Durk's voice crackled through the speaker. "Yeah, Von, I been hearin' some things. Deshawn been layin' low, but he got eyes out lookin' for you and Dess. He ain't gonna let this go."
Von's hand tightened around the phone, his eyes narrowing. "Aight, I need specifics, bro. Where he at? Who he rollin' with?"
Durk paused for a moment, the sound of muffled voices in the background. "He's been seen in a few spots 'round the South Side. Got some dudes helpin' him out, but I ain't got names yet. You need to stay sharp, Von. He's desperate."
Von glanced over at Dess, who was watching him anxiously. "I hear you, Durk. We can't be caught slippin'. You got any idea what his next move might be?"
Durk's voice lowered. "Look, Von, you know how these cats operate. He's gonna try to catch you when you least expect it. Might even be thinkin' 'bout hittin' close to home, so keep Dess safe, you feel me?"
"Bet. I ain't lettin' him get close to her. You keep diggin', find out whatever you can. We gotta shut this down."
Durk agreed, and Von ended the call, his face set in a grim expression. He turned to Dess, who was clutching a cushion, her knuckles white.
"What did Durk say?" Dess asked, her voice trembling slightly.
"He said Deshawn's layin' low but got eyes out for us. We gotta be careful, stay on our toes. He might try to hit close to home."
Dess nodded, trying to steady her breathing. "What do we do now?"
Von sat down beside her, taking her hand in his. "We stay here for a bit longer, let things cool down. I'll keep callin' around, see if we can get more info. But Dess, you gotta know, I ain't lettin' him get to you. I'm here, and I ain't goin' nowhere."
Dess felt a surge of gratitude and relief at his words. Despite the fear and uncertainty, she knew she wasn't alone. They would face whatever came next together.
Kayla walked in, sensing the tension. "Y'all good? Need anything?"
Von shook his head. "We good for now, Kayla . Just tryna get some info on this dude. Thanks for lettin' us crash here."
Kayla nodded, her expression serious. "Ain't no problem, cuz. You know I got your back. We'll get through this."
As the evening wore on, Dess and Von tried to relax, finding solace in each other's presence. Despite the looming threat of Deshawn, they drew strength from their bond, determined to face whatever came their way together.
