THE BILLIONAIRE'S GIRLFRIEND

21. TALK

Camilla.

Adam Knight sat at the head of the table, to his left sat his mother while at his right his wife. After saying grace we dig in. The dining table was filled with laughter and gossip.

I was seated in between Leander and Arianna and opposite to me sat Xavier, the man who came with Adrianna.

Xavier De Luca doesn't seem like he wanted to be here, but unfortunately he was seated in between Ashton and Adrianna. Next to her say Daniel who was teasing her, and she had this look on her face that she wanted to murder him.

" So Xavier, what are your plans since you are back? Are you gonna handle the De Luca company now?" Leander's father asked Xavier making him the center of attention.

He cleared his throat before replying.

" I haven't thought about it yet. But I will be staying here for a few days as the company needs some reconstructions." He said as he takes a sip from his champagne flute.

" Oh really! Did you meet any construction companies, I should state that my daughter Ari does a great job. You should visit her office." Adam Knight says it with much pride.

Arianna instantly tensed as her father takes her name.

" I will, Mr. Knight. In fact I was about to contact another company, since you have recommended I will take that offer." Xavier says as he smirks at Arianna which didn't get noticed by anyone.

" But dad, I already have some projects pending. I don't think I will be able to help Xavier." Arianna voice out.

" Come on Ari, it's Xavier. Of course you could spare some time for him. He hasn't been here for a long time and you can't do a single favour." This time it was her mother who scolded her.

" Mom-" She whined but one look from her mother was enough to make her shut.

Soon the discussion around the table shifted to other topics. I gazed at Leander who was unusually quiet only to notice him staring at the couple who was on the other side of the table.

Sapphire sat alongside her fiance Axel, and they were in their own world. I felt a lump in my throat as I realised that Lean was still in love with Sapphire. I couldn't focus on eating as I played with my food. Arianna must have noticed my change of mood as she nudged me but I just shook  my head saying it's nothing.

" Are you alright, Camilla? You have barely eaten anything. Why don't you try the lamb, it's Andrea's special?" His grandma asked, breaking my chain of thoughts. I could feel Leander's gaze from the corner of my eyes but I didn't give him any attention.

" Uhmm yeah yeah I am fine. Actually I need to use the restroom. So if you would  excuse me." Saying that I left the dining table without eyeing anybody.

Passing the corridor I asked one of the staff about the direction of the restroom.

Entering the restroom, I gazed at myself in the mirror. Emerald green eyes stared back at me. After fixing my hair and my dress, I looked back at the mirror.

Am I not attractive enough? What does Sapphire have that I don't? Isn't my figure attractive enough?

Sapphire has deep blue eyes which contrast with her strawberry blonde hair. She has attractive features while I am just nothing in front of her. Maybe that's why Lean doesn't notice me.

Insecurities creeped in my mind. It was becoming too difficult to breathe. I felt like somewas suffocating me. Gripping the counter top, I tried to focus on my breathing. I can't have an anxiety attack now.

Counting from one to ten in my mind I tried to steady my breathing. Within a few minutes I was able to calm myself. I forgot to take my anxiety pills because of my hectic work load.
